@mimimo7890 yoooo same

@mayamurray totally agree and all the kids at my school accepted didn’t even decide to go

@mayamurray please let me know what your counselor says when they respond!

@mimimo7890 no one has been accepted from my school in the past 10 years other than two lax commits…and r u serious? thats unreal.
@quiteabeaan i gotchu. although, she emailed me literally 3 days ago saying “we likely won’t be admitting from the waitlist until late may” like HOLD UP. IK PEOPLE R ALREADY GETTING OFF.

Has anyone gotten off of other colleges?

Has anyone gotten in who is in state and lsa

Hello everyone!! So I’ve been following this thread for a while. Like most of you, I was waitlisted for the Fall 2017 semester. I applied early action to LSA (in state), with a 3.9 unweighted GPA and 1380 SAT. I was deferred and then waitlisted, and I honestly figured that was the end. I confirmed with MSU and started to get excited about that, even though it wasn’t my first choice. Today, however, I got my acceptance email from UMich!!! I never thought that I would be chosen with such a low rate of acceptance of the wl. Anyway, I just want to say congratulations to everyone accepted, and good luck to everyone waiting!! I really hope they come through for you guys. However, remember that there are plenty of other options. I know a lot of people from my school plan on transferring to UM after a year or two. Alright, I’m done. Good luck!!

Do you think Ross is considering students off waitlist? I just got into LSA yesterday but there was no mention of Ross on my acceptance

So from what I’ve heard from admissions is that most of the decisions were already released and based on how many people accept the offer there will be more acceptances… :frowning:

How do they notify you? I’m already going to Dartmouth but I just want to get my final decision for closure.

^so youre going to darmouth but just felt the need to take a spot away from someone else on the waitlist who actually wants to go to umich? just so you can have closure?

From admissions:
“Thanks so much for reaching out. It is certainly still possible that we will admit more students from the waitlist for various academic units (beyond those who were admitted in the last few days). Unfortunately, we will not know for certain if or how many until we have further gauged how many of those admitted students choose to accept the offer. If space remains once the deadline for the recently admitted students has passed, we will send out additional offers. By mid June (approximately), we’ll send a final correspondence to all students still on the waitlist at that time to let them know that the class has been filled.”

@deb8meirl thanks for that

@mayamurray my email from admissions was much more negative:

We had very limited space to extend offers of admission to our wait listed candidates and these decisions were based on the overall strength of the evaluation done for each applicant. Unfortunately, you were not among the most competitive of the wait listed students who had reached out with continued interest. The University of Michigan received over 58,000 freshmen applications this year, so we do not track the number of emails a student submits as part of our decision making process.

I had apologized for emailing so much so I guess she felt the need to include that little bit at the end.
If I’m going to get rejected then why can’t they just do it already? I pretty much have no chance at this point but maybe there will be some sort of miracle and the guaranteed transfer option will save me.

does anyone know if students admitted from the waitlist are guarunteed housing freshman year since the deadline (may 4) has passed?

I second @mimimo7890’s question

I’d love to go to UMich, but the expense is considerable for an OOS-er like myself…so I’m weighing everything in terms of decision factors…

Exactly. I really want to go now but if I don’t get guaranteed housing there’s no way.

@quiteabeaan I empathize with your situation. I truly do. As an alum of Michigan I have seen many of my fellow alum’s children get accepted --those that did had gpa class rank (in a rigorous academic program) and standardized test scores in at least the mid 50% range of the pool of applicants. And this includes my own two children. So I thought you would be admitted too. But alas life does not always go in the straight path we wish. There are detours along the way, but rebounding and getting back on track can make you stronger. I could not afford to send my kids to Michigan–and it was truly disappointing for me, so they had to choose other schools to attend. Fortunately my son loves his school–Ohio State and has not looked back. It’s been harder for me than for him. And my daughter is very excited to attend her new school. So, please take a deep breath. Exhale and let go of Michigan as painful and as disappointing as this is for you. Your dad needs to do the same. I know you said in a prior post how much your dad wanted you to attend. Hopefully you have understanding parents. And hopefully you put a deposit at another school where you can be happy at and grow and thrive! I wish you the best of luck!!

@trackmbe3 Thank you for your kind words. I’m obviously very disappointed and confused at the moment and it kind of feels like the world is against me right now. I’m determined, though, so transferring to Michigan next year is the new goal. Hopefully my hard work will pay off and things will go my way. Thank you again. :slight_smile:
