I was waitlisted by Duke but it's my top choice school. I've got tickets to fly to Durham next week for a campus visit, (I've never visited before which might have hurt me previously).
I would like to speak with the admissions officer while i'm down there to emphasize my interest and bascially ask what else I could do to increase me chances.
However, my regional representative will be in Japan that day and Duke does not conduct on campus interviews for anyone.
So does anyone have any suggestions for how to find the officers and speak to them? From what my regional rep told me, it sounded like I could just walk into the office and start asking questions and didn't need an appointment. But i'm kind of afraid they will be really busy and people will just stare at me blankly and say 'thanks for coming, we'll call you if anything new comes up....'
thanks for any suggestions on how to make the most out of my visit!

Wow. It would be a very awkward situation for me if I were to do it. I don't know. lol sorry

Do NOT just waltz in. Call one of the other regional reps (Gina Hubbard, maybe) and make an appointment.

I'd also advise calling -- and just be honest with them. You can simply call the admissions office; you don't need to know specifically who you should speak with. Whoever picks up, say you're on the waitlist and interested in coming down to speak with someone, and ask what they would advise in terms of who to speak with. It's more than common, and it actually can make a difference. My best friend was waitlisted at WashU and flew to Missouri (we're from NY) to visit the campus and speak with his rep. Now, he's a happy freshman there. These visits CAN make a difference, so good luck!

I called admissions again and they told me an appointment was unnessary and I should walk in and the receptionist will direct me to which ever admissions officer in the office.
