Waitlisted.... What now????

I got waitlisted at Grinnell, which is totally fine by me, because when I saw the letter i thought it was a flat out rejection. However, I would really love to attend Grinnell, and I wanted to know if there is anything that I can do to make it off the waitlist and into the school?

i got waitlisted from a school recently...i'd like to know any info as well...

Appeal. Most colleges will have something like this on their website:

If you choose to appeal, your letter should describe information not included in your original application. This may be compelling information regarding personal circumstances and its impact on your academic performance, or possible errors in your application. You should include your fall 2005 and/or winter 2006 courses and grades, and your current spring 2006 courses. You must write the appeal; an appeal written on your behalf (by a parent, counselor, etc.) will not be accepted. Appeals will not be accepted by phone, fax or e-mail, and interviews will not be granted.

do we list any acheivments since the application (awards/ recognitions?) in this appeal?

what about schools like boston college who say....
" Students are not encouraged to send additional letters of recommendation or make calls to the institution to check on their waiting list status."

i was waitlisted at columbia. i would give anything to get off the waitlist and into the class of 2010......any tips on what i should write in my one-page "supplementary statement" (no recommendations are allowed)?
