So 3 people from my school were accepted to Northwestern, and I’m pretty sure that 2 of them are not planning to attend. I was waitlisted yesterday, and I’m planning to go to Chicago from Istanbul if it will help me getting off the waitlist. I really want to attend Northwestern, and I was wondering if visiting Chicago and seeing and admissions officer would help my chances. What do you think?
If you know you will attend if you get an offer, talk to your guidence counselor about “making the call”. He/She can put the high school’s reputation behind you, in terms of the promise that you’d go if you get an offer. And, you should also send an email to the admissions counselor re-iterating your interest and including a clear statement that it remains your number one school and (most importantly) that if you get an offer you will accept it unconditionally.
