Waitlisted?

I've had my application in since early October. Here are my stats:

3.1 unweighted GPA
3.88 weighted GPA
1070 SAT (1680 with writing)
26 ACT (Recently uped from a 24)
75+ hours community service
Held a job since Junior year

I just checked it today and it asked me if I'd like to accept being waitlisted. This was my main choice school so this really his a low blow. I already got delayed (waitlisted I guess) from FSU since they didn't have my SAT score and now UCF. My friend with slightly higher scores and GPA got accepted yesterday. What are the chances I'd get accepted now after being waitlisted? I'm retaking the SAT this month but won't have the new scores till mid February and I honestly don't know if I'll get any higher because I thought I did alot better the first time I took it and I only got 1070.

Any suggestions? Would it help getting some recommendation letters (from a manager from work maybe?).

I would really suggest emailing them…that doesn’t sound right, AT ALL. UCF has been having many issues (Including pulling my acceptence, because they mixed up mine and my twin brothers GPA) and this does NOT look good on their part. I’m sorry, but if I got accepted into summer with a 22 ACT and 3.7 GPA (Granted, it was my brothers) there is no reason for you to be waitlisted. I highly suggest emailing them.

This is beyond words right now.

I sent them an email yesterday. Basically I said how interested I am in the school and my desire to go there. And I asked them (because I didn’t know at the time) if they had a way for me to take the summer semester to get in during the fall. So, we’ll see.

chiefnwa i got waitlisted to as of yesterday. my scores were pretty close to yours. i had a 3.17 unweighted and 3.88 weighted gpa. my sats were 600-math 540- verbal and 560- writing. i had over 500 hours of community service and was taking challenging classes like physics, calculus, ap pysch ect…

This is obtuse, in my mind. Did both of you apply for summer? If you applied for summer, I’m sorry, but that just doesn’t add up in my mind. When did both of you apply? I know that the longer time went on, the more spots began to fill up. I’m getting very frustrated with Undergraduate admissions. Not so much the school, because I won’t judge them only because of one department…but it’s hard not too. If you both applied for summer, and applied decently early (September, october, maybe very early november) I really do not think this adds up. Hopefully this whole thing is sorted out, for the three of us. On a brighter note, though, UF decisions surface in february, where MANY students will end up ditching their UCF accepted for UF-that should leave a heafty amount of spots open.

Best of luck you guys, I hope we all end up there.

i applied august 27th lol and i applied summer also

Somethings not right to be.
I’m unaware of whether you two have been following what happened, but there’s a thread I’ve wrote that explain the whole situation called ‘My acceptence was a mistake.’ You can read the whole situation there if you’d like. I have seen, from experiance, that UCF is being very disorganized. I have a friend who was rejected from summer with a 3.5 GPA and 28 ACT score. Does that sound right to you? Not to me. Also, last year, a girl was deferred with a 4.2 GPA and 28 ACT score-after emailing them, they realized they mixed some things up. Chances that they’ve mixed up something of yours? Considering how awful the undergrad office is, pretty BIG. I would email them, both of you, questining this. This is beyond sense, and something is wrong here. I really hope this whole thing is straightend out for you two (as well as myself) and if not, and we’re going down in flames, they’re coming with us.

Guys, admissions is getting tougher. Its not that hard to figure out. As test scores rise and the university grows, their requieremtns for admissions have to get tougher. If not they would have even more students than now.

Im pretty sure they already account for the fact that a lot of people ditch them for UF. They dont expect everyone that gets accepted to go in

That’s really crazy! I’m being a huge procrastinor and haven’t applied yet, but you definitely need to contact ucf and see if maybe there was some miscommunication or if something was wrong with your application. Man, if you don’t get in, I won’t either, I’ve got the about the same stats but lower act.

I applied for Fall because you get considered for both fall and summer in that case. I still haven’t heard back from them and its been about 3 days. I’ll give them a call around Tuesday or Wednesday next week if I don’t hear back by then.
Oh, and I applied in early October I believe. Maybe a week or two off, but that’s what I remember. It just angers me seeing all my friends get accepted (some with equal scores, some higher) that applied at the same time or after me, then have me get waitlisted. Plus it’s basically the only school I want to go to so this is heart wrenching.
I’m just hoping that when UF releases their admissions, it’ll open up a bit at UCF and I’ll get accepted.
Guess it’s good to dream though. By the looks of it I’ll end up going to USF or SPC. Both places I really don’t want to go to.

SPC sucks! I only say that because I’m only a few minutes away from spc and if I were to go there it’d be like going through highschool for an extra couple of years. No deal haha

I live like 10 minutes from SPC’s Tarpon campus. I really don’t want to go there. At this point I’ll do anything to get into UCF. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to not get in, I was hoping for, at worst, summer admission. What are some things I can do to help get me off the waitlist?
Should I get some letters of recommendations? I can think of my volunteer coordinator, economics teacher and manager at work that would gladly write one for me. I just don’t know where and who to send them to.
I’m going to send my midterm senior grades to them (about the same gpa’s) and, assuming its better, my new SAT score after I take it on Jan. 28th. Any recommendations?

i’m hearing that the chances of getting into UCF waitlisted is 1 in 14??? does anyone if that is true and is their anyone out there who has been put on the waitlist and has been accepted?

Last year chances were actually less than 3% for being admitted for those offered place on waitlist (90 out of 3229.) UCF will stretch this out 'til May.

From UCF’s 2011-2012 Common Data Set report:

C2. Freshman wait-listed students
(students who met admission requirements but whose final admission was contingent on space availability)
Do you have a policy of placing students on a waiting list? yes: no:
If yes, please answer the questions below for fall 2011 admissions:

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list 3229
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 1168
Number of wait-listed students admitted 90

<a href=“Dumb and Dumber 'There's a Chance' - YouTube”>Dumb and Dumber 'There's a Chance' - YouTube;

Well, that sucks. I can’t believe I didn’t atleast get offered summer admission. :/

And it’s actually a 1/13 chance to get accepted off the waitlist because not everyone offered the waitlist accepts it.

I just had my AP score sent in (just to enforce the application), I’ll have my midterm senior grades (about 3.9 or 4.0 weighted, so about the same) sent in in about two weeks when the semester ends and my new SAT score, assuming I do better, sent after I receive the scores in mid February. I sent an inquiry to them today regarding sending letters of recommendation, so we’ll see what they say about that.

Well, it’s been quite awhile since I was put on the waitlist. My parents told me they want to know where I’m going so they can put the deposit down by the beginning of April. Seeing that I only applied to USF and UCF it looks like I’ll be going to USF. I sent UCF an email just now expressing how badly I want to go to the school and asked them if its possible to have a decision rendered by the beginning of April. They’ll either ignore it or deny me (as a sign of begging) I think. So, only time will tell now.

cheifnwa did you ever hear back from ucf?

I have not. I haven’t received a reply to my email that I sent 6 days ago, and the application status hasn’t changed. I’ve basically given up. I feel UCF is gonna drag this out well into May, which, by that time I will have had to commit to USF.
