Waitlisted

So I just found out I was waitlisted for the Storrs campus, which is pretty upsetting because it was my first choice. I’ve already opted to stay on the waitlist. I’ve already gotten into ECSU but that was my safety school and not somewhere I really want to go, and I’m still waiting to hear from other schools. However, because UConn doesn’t tell you if you’re off the waitlist until late May, and deposits for other schools are due by May 1st, I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket by not putting a deposit in for another school and risk not having anywhere to go if I don’t get into UConn, but I also don’t want to waste $200 on a deposit if I can help it. My question is, how likely do you think it will be for me to get off the waitlist?

GPA: 4.86 (4.0 unweighted)
SATs: 1830 the first time, 1920 the second
ACTs: 29
I’m a member of FFA and my school’s Honor Society. I don’t play any sports but I wouldn’t think that would have a huge impact…

You stats look good. I am surprised you didn’t get accepted. What is your major?

I think you have a good chance of getting off the wait list, but wouldn’t count on it. You need to secure your money for another college.

Did you get into one of the UConn branches? (assuming you live in CT) It is easier to transfer from the branch to storrs in your second year.

My major was undecided, which some people have told me could have been one of the reasons I didn’t get in.

At this point I’m probably just going to send in my deposit to another school and hope I can still get into UConn later…

I did get into the Hartford and Avery Point branches but they aren’t really an option for me because they’re kind of far for me to commute everyday, especially since I don’t have a car.

I think it’s a good idea to send in your deposit somewhere else and if you get accepted into UConn later you can go. However, you can still wait a few more weeks and see if UConn changes their mind since the deadline of the deposit for most schools is May 1st.
