Is there any way i can improve my chance?
Also, what is my chance of making through the waiting list and if I do get accepted can I still go to Uconn even after i make the deposit to other college?

Years ago a buddy of mine was wait listed at UConn. He kept calling the admissions office everyday asking if his status had changed... they ended up knowing him very well.... In fact he got a call back from an admissions person telling him he got in... He ended up developing a relationship over the phone with the people.... They must have loved his persistence. Call an admissions person and express your enthusiasm for being a Husky... Tell them you will be calling back daily to see if your status has changed.

Yes, but you will lose your deposit.

Are you sure you were waitlisted? You applied EA that means you should have been deferred right?

yeah uconn told me that they put me in the waitlist.. Do you guys know the chance of getting off the waitlist?

^ I think you still have a good chance. A lot of kids (out of state) apply to UConn as a safety school. They are usually Ivy League acceptees.

If they drop out and space opens up, you'll def get in.

Seeing as how they overenrolled 300 too many freshman (and have had to reshuffle some dorm/room arrangements as a result), it is unlikely that you'll get off the waitlist. Sorry.

oh really... because this was a college that I was positive I would get into, I hope they take alot of people from waiting list..

Odd, schools always enroll more freshmen than they accept. I'm sure it's too early to know how many they are overenrolled by as kids have until May 1st to accept, no?

From what I've heard, I think even as of now, they are overenrolled; this is especially problematic given the housing issues we've been having for the last couple years. This Daily Campus article shines a bit of light on the situation.

This is a stupid question but if i got waitlisted as EA applicant, are they going to ask for my mid-year grade?

i just found out today that i got wait listed too which really sucks because its my first choice. and they dont need your mid year reports, but if you did well it prob cant hurt to send them in anyway. how do you know that they already over enrolled 300 people if its only February??

I can't beleive they are currently over-enrolled. Deadline for enrollment is May 1, and many kids have yet to make a decision because the are waiting to hear from their RD schools (my son is one of those kids, and UConn is 1 of his top picks).

They may have had many more applicants than in past years, and possibly accepted more then they typically do at this point in time. Their current yield formula will have to account for the current economy, but it's still too soon to tell what actual enrollment will be.

What do you think the significance is of waitlisting some & deferring others? Do you think one is more likely to get in than another? I don't really know what to think.
Well, in our case I would be more than happy if my S just commuted to the Hartford campus if he doesn't get into the main one. From there he can transfer in possibly after one year, but definitely after two. Unfortunately, he says yes he'd do that one day, and the next he's adamant that there is no way. Unfortunately for him, UCONN is the only school in state or out that has his major, and he would have to settle for something else if he attends another school. We'll see :(

Okay, regarding the 300 number, after some investigating I'm not entirely sure where I heard that so disregard it. My bad. But I do know that they have over enrolled even at this point (not sure exactly by how much), and that the 400 beds freed up by the new housing arrangements suggest the magnitude.

Goldshadow jw where are you getting this information from?

Partly from stories like the following (that I also posted above) and partly from speaking to people in the know.

What's up with being put on the waiting list after applying early action? I thought with early action you got accepted, outright rejected or deferred to regular decision pool. Being on the waiting list to me, at this point-before they even look at regular decision, (instead of being 'deferred') just seems like a polite out and out rejection. The waitlist letter did not even ask for mid year grades or anything like that.

yeah i feel the same, do you think we are done cbd?

awww i feel so baddd lol i got accepted and i applied like 2 days before the deadline..my friend mentioned the college and i was like what the hell why not..if i dont get into any of the ivies, binghamton or boston college then i'm gonna go here though

Yeah so I got waitlisted too...

Seriously that is ridiculous. I withdrew my application.

BYE UCONN. If I am not good enough for you the first time around, YOUR not good enough for me the second time.
