I just recieved a letter offering a place on the wait list saying that "Kenyon maintaines a selective wait list of approximately 200 students". I'm going to accept the place on the wait list. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for eventually getting accepted?

My daughter was surpised and naturally disappointed to receive notice that she has been put on the waitlist. Her best interview and college visit was at Kenyon; the student she interviewed with and her really hit it off. As for stats:

1440/1600 SAT I and 11 on the essay
SAT IIs - 770 (USH), 740 (BIO-M), 730 (CHEM)
3.9 unweighted GPA
rank -- 10 of 170
Most rigorous course of study in her school (By which I mean no other student took as demanding a course schedule as she did)
Teacher recs -- excellent
GC Recs -- very good
ECs and leadership -- excellent

One possible factor: Her essay was excellent, but she did allude to her overcoming anorexia as a sophomore. She realized this was risky, but was not interested in attending a school that would turn her down because of her eating disorder.

But who really knows?

Anyway, she's not sure whether or not she will accept the wait list as she has other offers with considerable scholarship money.

Congratulations to those who were accepted by this great school and good luck to those of you who were waitlisted or who didn't make the cut. I'm sure anyone who applied to Kenyon is a great student and will have a successful college career wherever they go.

SAT2: Math L2: 760
Physics: 680
Math L1: 730

GPA: 3.92 out of 4.00 uw.
-most rigorous course load at high school,
-no ranks

Strenghts/hooks: great recs, strong ECs, international, showed much (but obviously not enough) interest in Kenyon through my essays and correspondence....

Weaknesses: asking for need-based financial aid

Anyone else? Are there internationals waitlisted here and with what stats?

Do they award merit/need-based scholarships to those accepted from the waitlist?

Are people waitlisted in a "ranked" manner?
If a number of students don't enroll from a particular high school will they specifically look at that high school's list of waitlisted candidates?

they told us waitlist students aren't ranked. But they probably look at demographics when they choose (though I don't think a particular high school would matter).

hey, does anyone know how much time they will give you to confirm that you want to enroll if they accept you off the waitlist? I will be away between May 29 and June 1 due to a chess tournament held in another city and this rumor over there doesn't sound good to me :)

My son was told by admissions that they are waiting to see how many people who accepted at Kenyon withdraw because they got off other waitlists. They expect to have a few places sometime this month, but it didn't sound like they were going to take many off the waitlist. They have already taken seven, they said.
