Ouch. It sort of stung but I got the "thin letter' in the mail today.

No matter though, I guess Whitman wasn't for me.

I know that the financial aid from Reed makes it a likely winner--and it is an interesting school in a great city and you sound like someone who will find your way wonderfully anywhere....However, you could always chance calling or emailing your Whitman area rep and asking them to look at your application and give you an idea of the chance of getting in. If there is hope, then ask about comparable aid. I think the criterion are always tighter for RD. I also think that Whitman's is still discounted often enough because of its location and this means accepted students think they want to elsewhere and that does open wait list spots--one of which could be yours. Won't you feel better about giving up on the idea if you just ask? (It's hard, but if you don't ask you'll never know.)

Whatever--enjoy the Reed offer.

I'm waitlisted too, but I'm an international...their letter gives me a little hope, coz they said if i have enough money, they can offer me admission. Im waitlisted for an international scholarship, so ill have to wait until the ten people who are offered the scholarships reply to see if i have a chance of getting in...Ive browsed through most of the "waitlist" topics in this forum, still im so anxious, as no one has mentioned an international case (of beign waitlisted for both admission and scholarship likeme). Anyone knows anything (please?)?
