Waitlisted

bfinder, good idea. I guess I'll have my counselor call tomorrow. Although I guess if I haven't been called, there isn't much chance they'll say "oh yeah, we forgot, but you're in!" -- hehe well there's always hope. Anyway, bfinder, hold out hope for yourself, too. I know the feeling of despair. I'm waiting on five of these. My poor counselor; I'll probably make him call all of 'em tomorrow. Any chance anyone knows if Bates, Bowdoin and/or Vassar are going to the waitlist? Sorry to deviate from the Wes thread-- Wes still comes first, I promise.

Congratulations to all who got in...unfortunately my relative hasn't been contacted, so hope feels quite slim. Does anyone know what the yield is on waitlist offers - I'd assume much higher than it is for regular decision. If anyone hears about their schedle for round 2, # of spots they need to fill, etc., please post it here.

Good luck to everyone, I hope you all get in. Maybe you can post here too where you'll go if you don't get accepted - it'd be interesting to see, and I bet they're terrific schools.

My teacher called today to vouch for me and they said that they'll be taking more people within the week...hold out everyone!
Good luck...

Yes! This is just the beginning of waiting list activity. Other schools' going to their waiting lists affects Wesleyan as well. I'm sure there's more to come! Good luck everyone.

Oh gosh, this is so nervewracking. It's so strange because I talked to my counselor today. She said she called last Wenesday and that they told her that no activity was happening yet. She's calling again tomorrow though. For those of you that want to know, I'll be going to UC Berkeley if I don't get off the wait list.

Well I guess there is hope - as Yogi said, it's never over 'til it's over.

And Sunkist, Berkeley is a fabulous school - you're very lucky to have that one in your back pocket. You must be a terrific student. Whatever happens you're all set to have a great college experience.

Anybody hear today? I didn't.

I haven't heard anything! ahhh im going crazy.

Join the club. When i called last tuesday the woman said they will be going to the wl again within a week...that gives us until Tuesday. Makes sense, the first round of wl offers must respond by Monday. 3 days to fixate!

well, i talked to my counselor a few days ago and she said that when she called them that they were debating whether to go to the waitlist again or not.

This is so sad. I hope everybody who was accepted on the waitlist gets in somewhere they'd rather go... and then I'll get a beautiful phone call.

yesterday, i received a call from admissions office offering me admissions. i was so excited! now I dont know whether to go to BC or wesleyan....what are your thoughts? thanks

that is so weird...The person at wes told my counsleor that when they went to the wl again i had a "good chance."
isnt that's college for yes?
so i thought. Ohh well...in learning about this i did learn that wling is a regional process, so if they are taking 50 ppl total from the wl, that would be 5 from each of 10 regions, depending on how many regions the school has. So, if people from a given region haven't yet responded from the 1st round of wait listing calls or they all responded yes, a certain region's calls may not have gone out this weekend.
We'll see.

also, frenchie, where do you live? and also at what time of day did the call come?

I live in CT.......30 minutes from middletown. they called in the morning on saturday, around 9.30-10 I wanna say

I wonder how many people were called...this is going to be the end of me. If i had half a brain i'd stop checking this site, but we all know that college confidential is the new heroin.

hahaha. that is so true in my case also.

Yeah, my counselor called today and got someone other than my regional rep who told her that the second round of calls is finished but there will definitely be another.

thanks for the info. that's good to know because my own counselor doesn't tell me anything and she is reluctant to call.

well, they said that "anything short of a singing telegram" isn't annoying or pushy, so counsleor probably should call. I guess i'm not one to offer advice for how to get off the wl though!
We got a random person today, and are calling tomm. to get our actual reader to see what the Westchester story is...not just the general one because the deadline for decisions from the first wave was to be postmarked today, so they might still need responses from there that could mean more openings.
