I agree. If you really want to get of the waitlist and want to attend GWU, write these sentiments to the admissions office. Don’t complain, just do it. If you don’t want to attend, move on and focus on the school or schools where you want to attend.

Butternut, the letter said that they wouldn’t rank the students until they recieved all the replies from wait-listed students about whether they wanted to stay/leave the wait-list.

I was waitlisted, but that was my fault actually…As I mentioned in another thread I listed all 22 unis in the GW Common App Supplement, where there was a question “What other colleges are you applying to?”. My stats were great IMO, but I don’t care anymore, because I got into one of my top choices. … I am going to deny my spot on the waitlist.

Did any of you list any colleges by the way?.. I am just curious…

One of the first things our guidance office told us was NOT to list all of the colleges you were applying to.

^ Really? Now I feel a bit upset with my guidance councilor. Does anyone know what the statistics are for people being accepted off of the waitlist? I think I have good stats. I’ll just list my grades and SAT score… 3.8 UW GPA and 1920 SAT. I know I’m not at the top but I’m also not at the bottom. Should I wait for GW or just accept at AU?

Don’t wait - accept American by the deadline. Don’t expect to hear from the GW waitlist until the May 1 deadline is long past.

Most waitlist schools expect you to put a deposit down somewhere. And most schools that are notified of your acceptance to a waitlist school will NOT hold it against you. You just end up losing the $. Make sure you are deposited at a college by May 1!

Does anyone know how many people were accepted from the waitlist last year?

Dreamleader – Don’t take any chances- if you do not put your deposit into American by 5/1 your spot will be given away to someone on their waitlist. You may lose your deposit if you ultimately get into GW but if you don’t get into GW you have some place to attend in the Fall.
Also not sure what your financial aid situation is but I have heard those who get in off the wait list don’t get much. If you receive $0 could you still attend?

Again, put your deposit in at AU. It has been a strange year in many ways trying to figure out why some were accepted and others were not so even with your excellent stats you may not get in to GW.
Hope it all works out -
