Waitlisted.

Yea, I had problems going to other pages as well but all you have to do is push Ctrl + Page Down to go to the next page and push Ctrl + Page Up to go to the previous page. Under section C is where all the admissions information is at.

hey guys
i am also waitlisted, too. On uw website it says for some years most of people on the waitlist got in, which I hope that will happen. However, since the economy has been so bad, i am guessing a lot of admitted people will choose UW since it’s a public university and cheaper. So i doubt they will take a lot of people from the waitlist this year…

REALLY DONT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN…

hey,
i live out of the country and i haven’t recieved my decision yet. it says on the website “we’ve reviewed etc” (updated 3/25) and my official transcript doesn’t load. others in my school that had their status updated on 2/25 have already been accepted through myuw. does this mean that i’m waitlisted or rejected? does the myuw website status tell you that you’ve been waitlisted? or does it come through the mail?

uw is my top choice, so im really distressed about not hearing back about an admission decision when i applied priority :/

Reading about all the Wa budget woes, the cynic in me says that if UDUB is looking at two similarly qualified wait listed students, one in state and one OOS, the selection will be the OOS student because that student is likely to add more $$ to the total pot the Uni has to spend (make up)

hey I know your reasoning makes sense, but in reality UW does not give much financial aid for OOS, causing many of us to choose other options. Many of my friends who were accepted OOS are turning down UW because at most they got a federal grant. Most are going to other east coast private school that offer full scholarships/grants to students. That would put you in luck!! In fact, I’m OOS accepted and I might (probably) turn it down for a full ride to Boston University.

i have also heard that OOS financial aid isnt so great. plus, tuition for OOS is most likely going up 14% so that alone might eliminate some people, plus the fact that uw cant give out aid to make up for the tuition raise because they are raising it to keep enough money in the system. although it would be unfortunate for OOS people, it would be better for us in-state because more spots would be opening up.

What makes you think its going up 14%?

its not what i think its what has been all over the news. with the budget cuts and such they have to increase instate tuition by probably 7% and 14% for out of state.

I heard its 7-10% flat for everyone…

I’m really feeling bummed about the economy…UW accepted 1,000 less people than normal this year because they anticipate that the financially-conservative applicants will decide to go on to stay with UW as their choice…Normally those 1,000 people would actually been accepted last year and because of the terrible economy, 2,500 people are on the waiting list this year! When I mention being on the waiting list people keep telling me that this was the worst year in applications and really competitive. To me this waitlist along with other various factors saddens me and in some cases make me feel like there’s no chance to get in…

Does anybody have any good news on whether there’s hope that isn’t iffy? I really feel let down…

BTW this article down here is iffy too…

[What to Expect if You Were Wait-Listed - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/articles/education/2009/04/06/what-to-expect-if-you-were-wait-listed.html)

wow that article has some rediculous stats…i can’t believe they actually put 2500 people on the waitlist thats just unheard of. at the same time, the end of the article was a little (very little) uplifting with how it said directors of admissions are expecting to use those waitlists so much due to all of the random movement and decisions they are expecting from other students. ugh i hope some real good news surfaces soon, im going crazy.

speechless… thats really not fair, hopefully other students will choose other schools over UW.

ok so I found even more devastating news pertaining to this…

I really want to know what you guys think

[The waiting game: Budget cuts could impact transfer students, wait list - The Daily of the University of Washington](http://dailyuw.com/2009/4/7/waiting-game-budget-cuts-could-impact-transfer-stu/)

god thats so rediculous, and incredibly depressing. we literally got so screwed over this year. no matter how hard we worked during our school career, we got the worst luck this year imaginable.

Well… it may be bad news but it’s not the end of the world. I’m pretty sure UW will turn to the waitlist this year.

uhh in this economy?

yield will be higher this year, so don’t get your hopes up

man i wanted to go to uw next yr and my teacher was talking to us about how uw was supposed to be a great backup school but now with the economy and it possibly will get even worse next yr :(

this link was on another thread, but i think it might lift some spirits here. essentially it means if they are allowed to hike up tuition that much, they wont be so worried about acceptances anymore like in the uw daily article.

[Gregoire: Let universities hike tuition by up to 14% a year](http://www.seattlepi.com/local/404913_tuitionhike07.html)

I think the real question is how many people will decide to commit to the University of Washington?

hopefully not very many ;)
