Waitlisted

=(

anyone else waitlisted?? Are the odds not too good?

Did you get a letter today?

first i get deferred then waitlisted

any chance we get off the waitlist? the man said 15-20% get off it

If I get waitlisted, I will probably shoot someone.

I hate schools that defer then waitlist.

yeah, i got the letter today. i live in Florida though.

sigh…

ive been on the waitlist since January… i know how you feel. I have submitted alot of new information on me and went for a second meeting… I checked until Aug 1. but i think im going to NCSU… but i want to wait on Wake… The man told me i should hear something after May 15th… im hoping earlier tho… my other friend got waitlisted until AUg. tho…

If you’re poor, don’t waste your time. The financial aid is so bad.

^Yes, unless you get tagged to receive some preferential packaging!

I might not be able to attend because of finances, so there might be a spot opened up for you! I’m sorry you got waitlisted!! I got waitlisted at my top school, and I know how sucky (is that even a word lol) it feels.

I got wait listed too.

About financial aid… “Wake Forest is one of a small group of private institutions that agrees to meet 100% of each admitted student’s demonstrated financial need.”

So… if I’m really THAT poor, it’s okay right? lol. I mean they will meet my need regardless if I’m admitted… I think…?

I wouldn’t say the FA is actually bad…I mean, for me, they basically shaved off all but 14k of their 52k price tag. So not nearly as bad as it could be, and it varies from person to person.

I also got waitlisted at my top school. I hate it.

And, jenuwin, that’s what I thought. except you’re wrong. I have an EFC of 2866. I got 16k in loans a year, making my financial aid a total of 45k. The total cost of attendance is 52k… so I have to pay out of pocket 7k a year. And if you add loans, I’m essentially paying 23k a year.

Yeah, no.

One of you people can have my spot hopefully.

I think the sweet spot for Financial Aid is either under $40,000 a year (they cap loans at that group) or probably around $90,000ish a year because you will have a high enough EFC that your parents can help you a bit, you will get a good amount of grant aid, and your loans will probably be much around 6-7k to meet the rest of your need.

Or if your parents make $500,000+ a year, then your parents should be able to pamper you and pay for everything. So no worries for Financial aid then! :)

“Beginning with freshmen entering in Fall 2008, students from families with annual income of less than $40,000 will have their loans capped at $4,000 per year.”

I’m in that category. oo so… the most I’d be paying is $4000 right? lol or is this false information. >>

^Yes, that is true. I called in a month ago and they told me that policy is still in effect. Me and hilsa are just above that income range and our Financial aid package will suck. I hate how they limit it by 4k, and then for people making slightly more than that, they feel as if 16k in loans is easily justifiable.

Ohh. : (

I have a question… does that date you tell them to consider your application matter?
5/15, 6/1, 7/1, 8/1

Would it be more likely to be admitted if it’s 8/1? o_O

but this is about being waitlisted. D: so it’s sort of different isn’t it?

Sorry, I deleted my post because I misread yours. I am not sure, why don’t you call and ask Admissions. I am sure they will tell you if it had any bearing on your chances to get off.

i heard that waiting longer makes them think you’re really interested in going there. I checked that deadline… but hopefully they contact me before Aug. 1… i really dont want to have to change all my plans around from NC STate to Wake in Aug. but im willing to wait… I Live in Winston-Salem on top of that… so idk if i would want to still go to wake… but it depends on their answer for me…
