what are the chances of getting in? When it says unranked does it mean that it is random who does get in?

By definition, an unranked waitlist is random.

In 2009, 1,137 students were offered a place on the waiting list. Of those, 735 accepted a spot. 45 were admitted.
So, in short: it’s competitive.

Topangaa: My D got waitlisted also. But she has already decided to go somewhere else (this was never a top choice). Hopefully, this will help the numbers for you. Good luck - I hope you get in!

My D got waitlisted also but never wanted to attend (snuck out in the middle of the tour!), so she won’t be taking a spot on the waitlist, either. Good luck Topangaa!

Thanks all Im really praying. I thought I had the acceptance in the bag…guess not:(

question for BING AMBASSADOR and anyone else who can give me advice. Is there anything I can do as a wait listed student to show that I am still interested? (send 3qtr grades, write them something telling them what successful things I have done as a 2nd semester senior)

@Topangaa: I was accepted into both SBU and Binghamton though I ultimately decided to pay the deposit for Stonybrook. Hopefully you get my spot!

Best of luck,
Hideoo

Thanks hideoo1!

Doesn’t anyone have an answer to my question though?

Unranked waitlist means that there really is nothing you can do… But you should still try. Email your area admissions counselor stating your interest.
