What difficult are freshman classes? If somebody was used to getting 3.75+ in HS, could they do that at Wake Forest freshman year?

A high GPA at Wake Forest is achievable, but it takes a lot of work. Also, it depends where you received that 3.75 - how challenging your high school was definitely plays a factor in that Obviously, regardless, a 3.75 is a great GPA for a high school student.

Freshman classes are definitely easier than upper level courses.

I agree with pinkcupcake for the most part, but some freshmen level classes are curved a bit more than upper-levels.

While the actual work is “easier”, some lower-level classes have soft quotas on how many A/A-/B+ they can give out. This varies by department, course, and if the professor has tenure or not (tenured professors don’t really have to worry about enforcing department-wide rules, as they are safe with tenure). So, it maybe less work in a freshman level class than upper-levels, but getting an A might actually be harder/less likely. Also, most freshmen, like any school, haven’t figured out the right balance between academics and social and so a good number of people do better as an upperclassmen.

A 3.75 is quite difficult at Wake, but doable. I believe 3.8 is the requirement for Summa Cum Laude, and very few seniors end up graduating with that distinction.
