Wake Forest Merit Scholarship Weekend

Congrats to those getting invitations! our D applied RD and we’ve been hoping to be considered… but no invite here. Still love the idea of being a Deacon though! Fingers crossed for acceptance but the waiting is so long…

@ASKMother Same here!

I contacted one of the admissions counselors at Wake, and they said that all scholarship finalists will be notified in March and that certain invitations being sent out now are usually for applicants who have not visited/ interviewed yet and are wanting to make sure if offered the scholarship will actually matriculate and not leave it for another school.

@Sassmann8 Does this mean someone that has already been accepted in Early Decision could still be offered a merit scholarship, even though they did not get an invitation to one of the weekends?

For the merit scholarships…

“Most scholarships (including the Reynolds, Carswell, Stamps, and Gordon scholarships) do not require a separate merit-based scholarship application. Instead, students need only submit a complete application for undergraduate admissions by December 1. Although an Admissions interview is not required in order to be considered for a merit-based scholarship, the majority of our scholarship recipients complete the interview process as part of their application to Wake Forest”.

"Finalists are invited to campus for interviews and are notified by the end of March.

For the Presidential Scholarships…

“Preference will be given to applicants who apply by November 15. Applications received past November 15 will be considered as talent areas allow”.

“Finalists will be contacted by the beginning of March. Winners are notified in late March.”

@Sassmann8 That sounds like Presidential Scholarship to me. I called the admissions office and was transferred to scholarship department and told the Reynolds, Carswell, Gordon, Stamps finalists have been notified which makes sense if those require hosted scholarship weekends as described by @WakeDad. I can’t imagine the school hosting some like that and not others simply because they already had a campus interview. Wish was one of them but am not.

Got word from a friend today that invitations were mailed “a couple of days ago” to Finalists for the Presidential Scholarship - at least for Theatre. Dates for campus visit / interview / audition will be Sunday Feb 25th through Tuesday 27. Best wishes to all!

Does your friend work for Wake or did they receive an invite?

@lawlover0520 Re: Preesidential Scholarship Finalists in Theatre…My friend’s mom knows someone that works in that office. All we know is that they were mailed a couple of days ago. I thought it would be an email but apparently it’s mailed. She only asked about Theatre so not sure about all of the other ‘areas’. Oh - also, from reading posts in previous years, approx 8 (give or take) Finaliists will be invited to campus for Theatre and 4 scholarships given. And of those 4, that could be acting, stage writing, etc… I am sure most of the applications are for acting. Best wishes!

Has anyone received information about the Presidential Scholarship status for dance? I have seen theatre and music mentioned, but not the other areas? Thanks!

I received an email stating that I was not selected as a finalist for the presidential scholarship :frowning: Anyone else hear anything?

My D received the same–not a finalist :frowning:

@lawlover0520 Same here. :frowning:

@adjaclaw Re: dance…Just email them and they will tell you the status (whether letters have gone out etc…) You can always use a different email address if you want to remain anonymous.

Thank you @TheatreGeek007 She actually got the letter and is not a finalist.

I was a finalist for a debate related scholarship and flew up for a recruitment weekend there- no official admissions status was received by me or the 3 other students there. (haven’t heard back abt if i got it yet lmao wish me luck!)

Wishing all of your the best of luck!

Go Deacs!
