I realize the torture of waiting but it really is a wonderful tradition that just a handful hold on to.
The problem with mailing the letters is that often the student is not the first one who finds out if they got in. It’s obvious by the appearance of the letter whether you got in or not. So if my parents check get the mail, they will be the first to know whether I got in or not.
@ImporTan is that really a major issue? They’re going to know the outcome either way. What difference does it make if they’re the first one to know? I’m honestly curious for this answer and not trying to sound rude or anything.
@Chopinspiano It’s not at all, but it would be nice. I just feel that the minor satisfaction of being the first to see your decision, along with the benefit of seeing your decision a couple days earlier outweighs the need to preserve the mailing tradition. Not a big deal either way
@ImporTan , I see where your coming from… I go to a boarding school and I didn’t get the joy of actually walking down to get the mail and holding those letters in my hand… I asked my parents just send me a picture right away don’t wait for a phone call… Personally I rather get the news before my parents did because I didn’t wanna hear it from my parents and have to deal with them trying to comfort me
Got an email saying that I have been admitted to the class of 2020, and my package will be mailed and received within 2 weeks. Probably because I’m an international student from India. Also, I never got an opportunity to give an interview either and didn’t submit SAT scores. Don’t let numbers and chances on the Internet bring you down. You all are going to be fine!
I just got an email from them today! I’m in! (international)
Wow congrats guys!
Another International Applicant here, I didn’t get an email so I must’ve not gotten in. Onto the next school then!
Just out of curiosity, what email address was it from?
Is there any way to track acceptances through mail?
You should get a DHL Tradking number via email ! Mines not active yet though
out of curiosity, how many internationals here needed financial aid that were admitted?
@kr9031 how does one do that?
I am intl and neede fin aid but got rejected 1 hour ago via email
If you’re int’l and need fin aid, you’re as good as toast except you get a full ride which is as rare as Kanye West winning a Golden globe that he wasn’t nominated for. I guess a $2b endowment doesn’t make a school generous
Do they give no merit for internationals?
Wait, YOU GET AN EMAIL THAT YOU GOT ACCEPTED. WHAT? So if i didn’t get an email that means I’m rejected?
They’re international so they get an email as snail mail takes weeks to get overseas. Colgate did the same thing. Domestic applicants receive no emails.
Yess accepted!! (American living in Europe)
@kr9031 Congratulations!! Duke also gets announced tonight (7 pm EDT). Then Ivy Day in one week. Congrats again to all that got in and all the best to everyone still waiting to hear! Wherever you end up, I’m sure you’ll be successful.
