Wake Forest Waitlist 2026

My daughter has just been notified she is waitlisted. Who else has been waitlisted at Wake? Also, for those with credible information, please share what you know about the process. If you have speculation, please post that on Reddit.

The Admissions Department announced on March 26:

“The waitlist webinar will be held on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on your inbox for registration information.”

In past years, the they have started to take kids off the waitlist in the last week(ish) of April. Hoping the same this year! Unfortunately, Wake doesn’t publish how long their waitlist is.

My daughter has also been waitlisted. She is currently writing her LOCI and will be emailing her local rep. Wake is her first choice so hoping for the best!

I have been waitlisted as well after being deferred EDđŸ„Č

Does anyone have a guess at how long the waitlist is?

Waitlisted too- someone mentioned mailing the local rep? I don’t think I have a local rep.

Not familiar with a “local“ representative. However, everyone has a “regional”representative. That’s an admissions officer located at Wake Forest who is assigned to your region.

If you don’t know who that is, call the Admissions office and they will tell you. They will also provide the officer’s contact information although, depending on who you speak to, they may be reticent to give you the officer’s direct telephone number.

You can find your regional representative on the admissions web site

My son was waitlisted also. Definitely curious about the criteria on how to get admitted, but it seems pretty hidden.

We are the same boat. My D22 had a ton of demonstrated interest at Wake, very high stats and a full IB candidate which they stated was very important to them so we are puzzled by the waitlist decision.

Same. D22 was very visibly interested in Wake, had great email exchanges with her AO, high stats, strong ECs, many IB/AP courses, really fun “Top Ten List”
Puzzling and disheartening to say the least.

At least I am waitlisted - I didn’t do the interview and didn’t send any messages . I am interested though.

Hoping that they take more people off of the waitlist this year. Some schools it really depends on the year. Example: one year Georgetown took 20% off and the next year (2021) they took 1%.

My son was waitlisted as well. He had emailed his regional rep (we live in virginia) earlier on in the process before decisions were made and got a pre written / out of office type email back basically stating she was busy with admissions work. I was shocked. We got personal communications back from other admissions reps at other schools. I guess he’ll email her again but I’m not expecting much. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yes my son emailed his AO on 3 occasions and never received any response back
not even an automated response. Very disappointing. Even the admissions officers at much bigger schools responded to emails. Not a good look for Wake.

My son had been emailing his counselor through out the application process and got personal responses. He is also waitlisted and has been getting responses after he sent his LOCI.

Same. Some regional reps are more kind.

April 7, 2022, Wake Forest Waitlist Webinar
Here are some of my notes.

The offers that have been made have a May 1 deadline. Wake will not accept from the waitlist before May 1. (Ed. However, in past years waitlist acceptances started around April 23.)

The waitlist is not prioritized. It is used to “build our class” into a “complete” freshman class, and “We look at you and the class as a whole.” Waitlisted applicants will be accepted but no one knows how many it will be.

Applicants must tell Wake they want to remain on the waitlist to actually be considered when waitlist offers begin being made. Applicants can select a date for Wake to automatically take them off the waitlist. The date selected does not affect the applicant’s chances of admission.

Wake recommends each applicant contact his regional admissions officer once (“possibly twice”) in April. No further contact is needed or warranted and interviews are not available. (Ed. I know for a fact that Wake has a very formal definition of the word “interview.” Many face-to-face applicant/admissions officer meetings - some quite lengthy - occur. These meetings are not considered interviews unless they were scheduled as an interview. If you visit Wake, consider calling your regional rep beforehand to ask to meet him/her while there. If the meeting happens, treating it like an interview can’t hurt.)

After May 1, waitlisted applicants who are selected will be notified by telephone call. Applicants should answer calls from the 336 area code. Also, applicants should confirm that the cell phone number listed in the Wake portal is correct. Applicants normally receive 24 hours to decide. (Ed. In past years it was normally 48 hours.)

Every year applicants with very strong demonstrated interest are not accepted. Wake has a limited number of beds and seats in classrooms.

The webinar was recorded and will be made available.

My daughter was also waitlisted at Wake Forest.
