What is the partying like at Wake Forest? And the frats?
parties happen most nights in frat lounges on campus from wednesdays (lovingly dubbed “wake wednesday”) to saturday nights.
they’re your typical frat parties I guess. lots of fun if you’re into crowded situations like that.
I would check… greekrank for specifics on the frats.
@CarriesBakers since the lounges are in the dorms, does this make the dorms loud (Wednesday through Saturday) for those not attending and just trying to study or hang out?
The lounges aren’t in any of the freshman dorms. They’re all on the upper quad housing, which is sophomore and up. and occupies the residence hall’s first floor, basement, or both. You wouldn’t typically go to a fraternity lounge during the day. They’re loud when something is being held, yes, but there are areas outside of the lounge for people to hang out within these residence halls. parties are from 8-12 on weekdays and 10-2 on weekends, so there isn’t much study and party overlap. If the noise is too much for people, they leave.
I will say that this does not promise a quiet freshman hall. People often pregame/get ready for parties and like to be loud. They mostly do these in their rooms, not the common areas, but Wake’s walls are infamously thin. If the partying isn’t going on in your room, then you should be fine to study and hang out. my advice is to bring a good pair of noise cancelling headphones, because people are going to be loud no matter what.
My son who is freshmen goes to many a frat party OFF campus…the lounges in the dorm are really not used for the REAL frat. party…he takes ubers to most off campus events.
