Wake vs. Chapel Hill vs. Uof Richmond for Undergrad Business

All these months searching and applying for colleges, and just picking one is the hardest part. I've been accepted at Wake and Chapel, and put a deposit down at Wake. I have until Monday to make up my mind about Chapel and put a deposit down there, but I'm still waiting to hear back from the University of Richmond mid-June. I was awarded a great scholarship, so each school would be almost completely paid for with fin-aid. So cost is the same regardless.

I like Chapel hill because I think the large size will give me many opportunities in terms of things to do, and also because there is a huge portion of my senior class going there.. roughly 100/300students, and it's like that every year so I know I'd be set socially for a while and could branch out later. There's also Franklin Street, and the fact that the triangle is full of the resources of all the other businesses and colleges -I don't like Chapel because it's such a large public school that I feel like I'll get lost in the shuffle academically, and also because in dealing with the school they've lost my paperwork several times ... I'm not sure how common this will be later on as a student.

Wake Forest in my opinion gives me great networking opportunities for later. The people there strike me as potential investors in my future businesses. To be honest it seems heavily frat based.. not something I'm particularly concerned about, and when visiting it was as if I was amongst an army of Polos and Abercrombie. The school seems like it's just putting on a big show with it's buildings laid out down the quad, and I just didn't get the warm and fuzzys when i visited, though admittedly I was in a slightly bad mood.

I can't seem to fault Richmond on anything other than the fact that its reputation doesn't seem as well known as the others, and supposedly that's not as big of a deal with undergraduate education. It's close to the beach and DC and the campus is gorgeous, staff helpful, and the students genuine. The food seemed amazing too, and it has some legit programs.

I need help weighing the pros and cons of each of these 3 schools, so any input would be much appreciated. I'm not sure what I should do now between UNC and Wake, and then what I should do with Richmond... I think I'm leaning towards Richmond if I get in.

Sorry if this was too long, and thanks for your help!

Also: Chapel hill is about to get hit with some major Budget cuts.

I’m into business, though I’ve seriously been toying with Psychology.

Well according to BusinessWeek, here are the rankings for your schools

UNC #14
Richmond #15
Wake Forest #18

so academically, all three are very strong for undergrad business. Personally, I would pick UNC-Chapel Hill. I go to a school about the same size and I’ve never felt like I’m “just a number”. I would pick UNC for the campus atmosphere. In addition, being a large public university, there are tons of different majors and fields for you to explore.

However, if you feel that Wake Forest is the school for you, go for it! It’s your decision.

You hit most of the key points in the comparison between the schools, except I think you give exaggerated importance to UNC’s size and underrate the atmosphere at Wake. I always got a very strong warm and fuzzy feeling from Wake and have yet to meet friendlier students (even at my own college). I suppose each person has his/her own opinion about such things, though.

You absolutely cannot go wrong between UNC and Wake, though I agree with Pierre that its size gives UNC an edge in diversity, particularly academic breadth. It’s worth noting that Franklin/CH and Carrboro are in much closer proximity to UNC than Winston-Salem is to Wake - you can walk to/from the former, while the latter requires a car.

And so is everybody else and their mom.

If I were you, I would go to Wake. I like it more than UNC, simply because the campus was gorgeous imo. And it is odd that you didn’t get a “warm” feeling there, that’s the opposite of how I felt (and I’ve had the opportunity to visit Wake countless times). Academically, I suppose that UNC and Wake sound basically equal; but I do like Winston-Salem moreso than Chapel Hill, and the smaller size is a plus to me. Congrats on the great acceptances, and best wishes :)

You can’t really go wrong. I go to UNC and absolutely love it, but different people get different vibes about places. Just go with where you think you’ll be happier.
