Wake vs Richmond vs Villanova

It seems like these are my top 3 schools (maybe throw BC onto that list). I plan on majoring in business, probably something along the lines of either finance or management. Which schools are the best for those two categories?

I would honestly choose Wake, then Villanova and then Richmond, but if BC is on the list then I would place that on top. Wake and Villanova are pretty close though.

thanks for your insight, any other opinions?

random bump

bumppp......

I agree with Pre-medwannape. I would rate the business schools in the same order he did (Wake Forest, then Villanova, then Richmond).

Wake gives you a bigger sports experience with both football and basketball, although the basketball scene is HUGE at Nova. If sports aren't a big issue, then disregard this.

All three have great b-schools. I'd personally pick Nova, because I'd be turned off by the nickname of 'Work Forest'.

Richmond is a fine school, and my friend is playing basketball there, but I'd never in a million years go there.

I believe Nova does better than both on Wall Street, and has a HUGE NYC alumni network.

Another thing you need to look at is where you'd want to be. I live near Nova, and it's pretty different from Winston Salem and Richmond.

Personally, I would choose Villanova out of the three.

Villanova gets the nod from me.

Keep in mind, I'm just talking about their business school and reputation in the business world, not outside factors.

But so far it looks like Villanova and Wake are about even with Richmond in 3rd...

Based on the make-up of the BBs incomings, I've seen a lot more Villanova students then Wake. Actually, don't think I've seen any Wake.

TWOwls - what is wrong with Richmond? I read about it, sounds good, but never visited.

Err, I misread the OP,thought he was interested in IB. Sorry about that.

Well it's in Richmond. Um it's one of the three (?) most expensive schools in the U.S. I dont think the education is worth that much, especially compared to Wake and Nova. It's known to be for rich kids, but not the most academically inclined kind a la Wake, Nova, Vandy, etc.

Just does absolutely nothing for me. I was really shocked when my dude turned down Nova, Temple amongst others to play for URichmond.

Out of three the better known on wall street is Villanova. Atleast, that is what it seems.

Also, Villanova does have some specializations that the other two don't--for example, a major in Project Management. I took some of these courses via distance education and found them awesome--although, personally, I thought the grading in the course was too easy.

You know, now that I think about this a bit, Wake Forest is known for having a really tough grading curve (similar to Georgia Tech's, NYU's and Purdue's and the one that USC used to have), while Villanova's grading curve is considered more fair.

So, if this makes a difference (and it probably does), you might be more inclined to go to Villanova.

Yeah but most recruiters know about Wake Forest's grade deflation and tough academic workload...

But yeah, grade deflation was one of the things that turned me off... I don't want to have to work my ass off just to get a B.

Any feedback on Richmond Grading.

Is "project management" considered business management? Because I didn't see that listed on Villanova's website as a major at VSB for an undergrad. Maybe that is one of the elective courses you can take, but it is not listed there as a requirement for undergrad.

VSB's majors are: Accountancy, Finance, Marketing, MIS, Business Management, Economics, Honors Business and a co-major of IB.
