I'm a high school senior recently accepted at all three of these universities. I intend to major in business as an undergrad. I've visited all three and had pleasant experiences at each. The only real problem is that I'm currently en route to Villanova's college of Liberal Arts and Sciences; however, I've been admitted into the Carrol School at BC, and at Richmond it doesn't matter. I already have been in touch with admissions at Nova to try and remedy that situation. I am still waiting on financial aid from Richmond and BC, but I received 35,000 in grants from Nova, so the other schools may have comparable packages considering they received largely the same financial information. I'm not completely on my own for paying for college, but, I'll certainly have to take out student loans.

The business school ranking put BC > Richmond > Nova, but I consider that information highly arbitrary at the upper echelons, and certainly not influential enough to make a college decision on. I felt great vibes at Nova and Richmond, somewhat more so than BC (it may have just been the construction and cold). Also, I live in central PA, Nova is an hour and a half by train, Richmond 3 1/2 if you push it by car, and BC is about 7 by car.

I was looking for some impressions from former/current students, or anyone faced with a similar decision in their time.

I live near Nova. Great school in a great neighborhood. All the kids I know there have a great time. You can just about anywhere in the are there via train. Good luck with your decision you have 3 great options.

I looked at both schools, and pretty seriously considered Richmond. Between Nova and UR, I would definitely choose Richmond. However, I think the two schools are pretty equal academically, so you should go wherever you felt more comfortable.

I wasn’t looking into one of the B-school majors, but I will note that Richmond people won’t let you forget that they have the 12th ranked school in the nation. I don’t know what that’s worth. I think something that Richmond has that is valuable is their school of leadership. I think that can be really useful to put on a resume, not to mention would provide for interesting classes. The rest of the factors that I liked about Richmond would have been individual to me. I find their campus to be gorgeous (more so than Nova, and maybe even Dartmouth), they had a major I was really interested in (PPE), and I love the city of Richmond. It would have been a great place for me to pursue my interests, but you should just go where you have a better gut feeling.

I looked at both BC and Villanova among others. I’d disregard Villanova if I were you as you didn’t get accepted directly to the business program and it may be hard to switch in to that. I prefered BC to Nova anyways, but thats just me. I don’t know about Richmond so I can’t help you there.

My sister just graduated from bc and loved it. She is a very academic person but likes to have fun too and said that bc had the perfect mix between the two.

I think the general collective sentiment is that one could make a great education out of any of these schools, it’s somewhat relieving and yet enigmatic to know that there is no “right” answer, or rather all answers are “right”.

One other question, for college undergraduates, how much does the surrounding city impact college life? For me, Philadelphia outshines Richmond, and out of sheer size has a great deal more to offer. With all the culture and activity on campus my question becomes, does the city actually make a great impact, aside internships (which are admittedly important)?

University of Richmond is by far the most gorgeous campus I’ve ever visited. I’m currently on their waitlist but I would go there in a second. Great people and atmosphere.
