I’m going into 11th grade and I’m interested in soccer but not yet fit enough to compete with these guys due to me only doing workouts like sprints and ball control for two weeks, at this stage should I tryout for my high school team or keep working out and training so I can go to an open tryout in college? They do host the open tryouts and have had previous walk on’s.
Really not sure what you are asking,
If you want to play in college, you will need experience playing games, and the only way to get that is to play. Try out for your high school team. You will improve fastest if you are playing regularly, not by doing drills on your own.
Okay, I have 7 years in a youth league but it’s been 4 years since then
start running longer distances. you will increase your fitness level and endurance which is really important in competitive play.
I would definitely tryout. If nothing else that will be part of your workout and will allow you to feel what and where you need improvement. Worst case you didn’t make the team bot got better, both in conditioning and your craft.
Soccer players also play club soccer in addition to school soccer. There are opportunities to do skills or play indoor games in the winter.
You miss 100% of the goals you don’t shoot, as Mr. Gretzky says.
