If a student isn't recruited for a particular sport, how difficult is it to Walk On? I'm particularly concerned regarding Penn's soccer program?
Also, what kind of Intramural or club sports do they have?

Good luck with soccer. I lettered 3 years in highschool in soccer, with a few awards here and there. Forget walking on to the Varsity team, it’s hard enough getting on the club team. This year, 65 guys tried out for 7 spots on the club team (I got in the top 20 before I was cut). I’m sure the numbers were similar for girls.

Surprisingly, Penn sports are pretty good. Last summer, when I was thinking along the same lines as you for soccer, I read on the Penn Athletics website that two graduates from the team signed for the MLS.

That being said, I still find several opportunities to play soccer, even if I didn’t make the club team. People play at the Drexel fields, by the high rises, or just kick the ball around in the Quad.

They have everything you can imagine for intramural. Soccer, tennis, volleyball, squash, basketball, etc. You can usually sign up with your college house at the beginning of the year.

wat about varsity crew?

Varisty crew is a different story. You CAN walk on, and I know other fellow freshman who did.

does this mean that recruited athletes have a very good chance of getting in? or can you be a top recruit and still be rejected?

how about women’s volleyball

Thanks for the info regarding soccer. I had a very similar question.

Women’s volleyball is similar to soccer, according to my friend. Lots of tryouts for clubs.
