i am not really sure what i am asking either…lol. He is scheduled for orientation June 1. He said he is going to fill the application out and look at the situation himself at that time. Thanks for the help.

LOL, OK. That will help a lot when he sees it for himself. I can imagine it is all very abstract until then.

thegreentea68, my priority for the first 2 years actually has to be studying. Since I want to get in the Creative Scholars Program, I really need the GPA up until sophomore year. So, yes, it may sound crazy, but GPA is my main priority, as least for now. And I’ll be majoring in Finance, because the creative program will only allow me to major in a non- science! What about you?

My daughter has been accepted for Fall 2012 (woo-hoo!) and we are looking at dorm choices just to get some ideas. She is a real hyper-organized neat freak and she thinks she would be happier in a suite-type dorm set up rather than the big Monroe or Sharp situation.

How hard is it to actually get into Wall, and do any of you current Tulane students have any thoughts on the subject? I suppose if she got a similarly neat roommate it wouldn’t be too bad no matter what dorm she is assigned to.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve been accepted for Fall 2012 as well, and I intend to apply for Wall as well. I have a friend who currently lives in Wall, and he loves it. He says it’s the dorm for the quirkier kids and is a sort of median between the craziness of Sharp and Monroe and the quiet of Butler.

When I went on my tour last Wednesday, when we passed Wall, my two tour guides started talking about how jealous they are of the students who live there, because the rooms are so nice.

I’d imagine that the difficulty of getting in will depend on how many people plan on returning to live there next year, though. I’ve also heard of many upcoming freshmen who’ve decided against applying solely on the basis that they don’t want to have to write a few essays.

My D is living in Wall right now and it’s is very nice/neat/quite. She applied and got into Wall. FYI. it is just about $500 more per year compared to some other dorms.

Good luck and congrats for acceptance.

Does anyone know about the dorm for the honor program… My daughter was accepted tp the honor college and they said they have a special dorm. Can you tell us about it?

Honors program, not honors college (I know, I know I should give that a rest). Anyway, my D lived in Butler her freshman year and liked it very much. People were very friendly, easier to find friends that liked going out but not drinking, quieter than the other dorms except that in her case there was construction on the new SoHo dorm that is now completed. It is co-ed by floor, hall bath arrangement. Laundry is every other floor I think, with the alternate floors being larger lounges. Brick wall interiors which many kids like.

Does anyone know what the breakdown of freshman versus others (I imagine, primarily sophomores) is in Wall?

See above freshman profile for 2011-2012.

Wall is a fantastic dorm. I consider it the best one on campus, even though it’s no longer the newest one. While SoHo is newer, it still needs time to develop a character of its own. Wall is a very unique place to live. And come on, your own bathroom and sinks? That’s golden. You might think you’re “losing out on the freshman experience”, but I would argue that this is one of the most unique freshman experiences you can get. If you had to generalize Wall kids, leadership is something that would always be mentioned.
