My D just told me that she and her chosen roommate both got into Wall. She sounded pretty excited about it which is funny since when I initially suggested it to her, she wasn't really interested in it.

Have all the kids found out what dorm they are in? If not, when do they find out?

I had read that even the Wall applicants weren’t going to find out for another month, so I was surprised she found out so early.

I just looked on their website, and it said the end of July for incoming first-year students.

They won’t find out until much later in the summer. They don’t begin working on that until after all orientations are complete which allows plenty of time for freshman to find a roommate if they are not going with a random roommate. If I remember correctly, it was late July when my older son found out which dorm he was in.

My son and many others received an email a few days ago about acceptance into the Wall dorm.

cyclonehome - Like your child, mine was not interested in Wall at first. I guess all of the excitement about Wall acceptances on Tulane’s official class of 2017 Facebook page changed his mind.

Wall is the exception to the late summer notice because of the application process. Those incoming freshmen who applied and were not accepted to live in Wall will have to reassess their priorities for dorm selection and will get their assignments along with everyone else in late summer.

My daughter will be living in Wall. Does anyone have any suggestions about what sorts of storage containers she should bring? Flat ones to go under the bed? Small book case? What do the closets look like? Thanks for any info.

Here’s a video tour of Wall. If you go to about 3:30 into it, you can get a good idea of the room. [Wall Dorm - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

There are pictures and dimensions on this page: [Tulane University - Wall Residential College](http://tulane.edu/studentaffairs/housing/under/wall-residential-college.cfm)

cyclonehome, glad your daughter and her roommate choice made it into Wall. My daughter will be there also. Have not been on CC for a while and was catching up. Unbelievable experience your daughter must have had in Spain. As hard as that must have been on you what a gift that was to let her go. Noticed you were up in S’port area. I’m over in North Bossier.

WhereAreU - I just sent you a PM.

We dropped in to see one of the Wall rooms during orientation. My daughter really liked it and is well into interior design ideas. She enjoyed staying in Butler. Her roommate also liked the size and layout but the bathroom received multiple negative reviews.

cyclonehome - received your PM. I don’t have enough post to PM back. Everything sounds great and my daughter is excited to get together.

WhereAreU - sent another pm with more info.

cyclonehome - Part of your message was all asterisks. This post should allow me to pm.

My D will also be living in Wall. She doesn’t have a roommate yet which is making her nervous. Does everyone going into Wall already have a roommate?

There are always people that get random roommates, including in Wall. Some people actually prefer that. Adventurous types, I guess. But there are never any guarantees, even when people pick roommates. Living with someone is, to state the obvious to all of us parents, quite different than just hanging out with them and certainly very different than what one might know from a relatively brief encounter. Hopefully the fact that Wall uses a selection process will enhance the chances of compatibility.

born4shop,
My daughter made friends at orientation that she would love to room with but they didn’t get into Wall. She has been on FB but decided to go random. Would be a CC small world if our daughters end up as roommates.

For the ones who got into Wall, do they have to go do the whole housing thing on-line by tomorrow or is that already taken care of when they accepted their spot at Wall? What about if they want to specify a roommate? Yes, I should know this, but sometimes D forgets to tell me things and sometimes she just doesn’t see the e-mail…

Hmmm, not sure. I would think they have to confirm their acceptance into Wall. Probably better call housing tomorrow just to be sure.

I am pretty certain that they still have to go through the same process as everyone else. They are supposed to log into the housing website and then when it comes to their dorm selection choose Residential College, and continue through the process providing the roommates RMS ID.
