Walsh School of Foreign Service Essays

Hello everyone,

I have been doing some research for my Foreign Service essay. It seems like everyone is talking about problems like the global food crisis, water management and terrorism; I find those pretty relevant. But I would like to focus on a more regional issue that feels important to me personally. Would that be irellevant to the topic? (Briefly discuss a current global issue, indicating why you consider it important and what you suggest should be done to deal with it.). Would a regional issue that has global offshoots be considered appropriate?
I could talk about the Iranian nuclear crisis, the drug trafficking routes in the Middle East or regional problems of insurgency.
What do you think?
Also do you guys happen to know the word limit for this essay?
Thanks already,
Anxious student

Yes, whatever you want to write about. I wrote mine about Julian Assange. And it’s supposed to be a page. Mine was ~520 words.

Thanks a lot! Also, where can I find the essay questions? I don’t want to submit my application just yet but I heard that there are also short answer questions/essays. Are they given in the application form only?
