Want to transfer OUT of UCSB, help please!

Hey! Like others on this forum, I want to transfer but I'm unsure of where I can get in or where to apply.

I really need help!!

Right now I'm a sophomore at UCSB, majoring in biology with a 3.56 gpa. While I enjoy UCSB, I've been here for 4 quarters and I've been unable to find my niche; I've found that many of the people who don't drink are anti social (and many play video games, an addiction which I'm trying to avoid). I might stay but I want to apply to other schools and see what can happen.

High School Stats: (is it irrelevant?)
GPA: 3.96
SAT: 2100
Elected ASB Officer
Water Polo Captain (MVP 2 years as well)
Promethean (a form of valedictorian)

Here's what's happened to me at college:
-Tried out for the water polo team, barely missed the cut.
-Started a business fraternity, switched major, forced to drop.
-Started a greek fraternity, lost our house, dropped.
-Business internship, unreasonable hours, dropped.

I miss old friends and I miss playing athletics competitively. I often feel depressed and unmotivated although I try to stay optimistic.

My parents have suggested Chapman University, USC, and some east coast schools such as Vanderbilt. I'd love to go to a college with a football team but that's not a necessity.

On a side note, I'm also worried that transferring colleges limits what I can do resume wise.

Help!

Is it too late to transfer? What would you do in my situation? What schools would you look at? What should I do?

Thank you for your input!

how many units have you taken at ucsb? im not sure but if you have too many units it may be more difficult to transfer, try talking to the cheadle hall counselors about transferring, they should be more informative and helpful. Also gather some recommendations, start your essays. You have good stats, you should be able to find another school, just check on the unit thing

I feel you! I went to ucsb my freshman year and I had some family problems my last quarter, therefore I had to leave. Although I felt the same way about the people! It’s hard to find people who are just “normal” about the party aspect, it’s like two extremes. Either full on getting wasted for entertainment or the gamer/antisocial thing. Such a shame seeing that the campus is beautiful… I missed being able to just chill or have fun without drinking or going crazy on weekends.

Anyways i took a year at a cc and I’m trying to transfer too… You know you can just withdraw and take cc courses that transfer( it’s cheaper). Then apply to other schools. If it doesn’t work out just reapply for readmission to sb. I did that this spring so I could retake a math class and they’ll never deny you if your in good academic standing. You don’t even fill out the uc application form you just fill out a readmitt form. I am worried about having to go back full time if I don’t get into UCI for fall 2011 but I am thankful I have an option to stay and graduate at sb if I really have to.

Good luck though and talk to the schools you want to transfer to also, because they may have unit caps !!! Make sure you call admissions at USC or chapman and ask how they would view your situation !
