Want to transfer to different high school. Help me out?

So back in 8th grade, I was supposed to go to this high school with everyone I knew, unfortunately i had to move since my parents got divorced. I went to a different school for 9th grade in a different county. In 10th grade this year however, I've moved back but for some stupid reason my neighborhood is zoned for a different school.

It would make my life 100000000x better If i could transfer to this school, but I don't know how to go about it. Someone on my bus even told me that there is a bus that goes to THE EXACT SAME bus stop I currently go to but the bus goes to the school I want to go to. My mom wouldn't care if I transferred, and I would be so delighted if I got to finally go to the school I've always wanted to go to.

I've written an email to the school's registrar, can you guys read it for me and see if its good? What should I add or change?

Hi _____,

My name is ___, and I am currently a sophomore at Patriot High School. I am emailing you about some questions I have about transferring to Battlefield High School.

When I was in 8th grade, Battlefield High School was the school I was originally zoned for. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend Battlefield because my parents got divorced and we were forced to move to a different county. I attended a different high school in a different county during my freshman year. It was pretty disappointing to have to go to a completely different school, with people I weren't familiar with. I've recently been able to move back into Prince William County but unfortunately, my neighborhood is zoned for Patriot High School for some reason.

I was recently told that there is a bus that goes to the exact same bus stop I go to for Patriot, but the bus goes to Battlefield instead. I'd be extremely delighted to go to Battlefield High School if it was possible! All of my friends that I knew before I moved go to Battlefield. There is an information technology specialty program there I had planned to take that isn't available at Patriot High School. Overall, it would be really nice to attend a school that I couldn't attend back in 9th grade because I had to move.

Is it possible for me to transfer to Battlefield High School? If so,when could I transfer and what is the process I would have to go through. Also, is there actually a bus that stops by Somerhill Farms and goes to Battlefield High School?

Lastly, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me transfer to the school I've been wanting to attend!

Thanks,

So any suggestions you guys have about the email I'm writing to the school's registrar? Any other suggestions? Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

I think most of it is fine. Instead of asking if it was possible though, just ask how to go about doing it. If you ask, there is a chance that they could say no. By changing the wording, it shows that you have already made up your mind about transferring. Unless the school is in a different district, it should be relatively easy to do.

You need to go to the district office and ask for a transfer option. California has pretty strong laws easing transferring inside a district or to another one, but the district is the ultimate decider based on space. I don’t know about your state though. But because your neighborhood was rezoned, I would take that as a sign that the school you want to go to may have crowding issues. Do fight for it, nonetheless.

First off, thank you so much for the replies.

@JadeMusic So, is there anything I should change about my email aside from the things you mentioned? Should I keep my little story in there to show that I want to go to that school?

@fightthefuture My school was rezoned, but apparently theres a bus that comes to my neighborhood and takes kids from my neighborhood to that other school I want to go to. No idea why they would have that lol.

Whenever a rezoning occurs, at least in my area, they generally include a grandfather clause, which essentially means that students already enrolled at the old school in the area being rezoned can continue to go to that school, sometimes siblings are included as well. New students however, will not get that benefit.
