wanting opinions on Michigan's learning/living communities

We love the idea of my daughter attending Michigan. She has also received a nice scholarship. She would not know anyone, however, and is on the quiet side. We are considering the learning/living communities, specifically the Women in Science and Engineering Residence Program and Health Sciences Scholars Program (as she would be taking pre-med courses). Does anyone have any experience or input on these communities? Would they help a more quiet student acclimate to the university? Thanks in advance for any advice.

My D is also interested in the WISE RP. Is your D coming for the Amaizin’ Blue Preview in April? My D is going there to make some friends there and look for potential roommates. The WISE RP is in MoJo, one of the dorm in the Hill area. It is more on the quite side of campus and yet it is close to main campus, Public Health and medical campus. We are still collecting information but we have attended the WISE information session in Fall. I believe they have a student mentoring program. My D is also rather quite. She is going to study engineering though.
