So I'm currently a bio major in CAS and wanna transfer into CALS as a bio major. That may sound stupid but basically my reasoning is that I wanna graduate early due to economic hardships, and it will be infinitely easier in CALS as opposed to CAS mainly due to CAS's stringent 34 course requirement. It will just be so much easier and take much stress out of my life if I could do it in CALS, where there is no course requirement and I'll be easily over 120 credits by my 7th semester.

The problem is I need to write an essay - obviously I can't use this as my reason. What else can I say? My main idea is saying that I'd rather get a Bachelor of Science in CALS than a Bachelor of Arts in CAS, but what other advantages might I be able to list off? I really need to be able to do this - thank you!

It would seem to me that economic hardship and graduating sooner would be a plus for the Uni. Just don’t say you want to transfer bcos it’s “easier.” The rest is just ‘Why Bio?’ and how you fit better at CALS.

its very easy to internal transfer in my opinion. as long as your gpa is over 3.5. just be like you like cals focus on bio, dont want to do so many distributions =

The official statistic for internal transfers is over 95% accepted. I’m sure that there are actual differences within both curriculum, otherwise they wouldn’t offer two of the same major. I’m not sure if this is the difference, but you can possibly talk about the GEs that CALS allows so you can focus on your secondary interest with regards to agricultural sciences, which isn’t available if you major in CAS.

The requirements for the major are the same. The school requirements, however, are different. I think the bio major itself fulfills many if not all the requirements for CALS. If you are in CAS, you need to take additional requirements in the arts.
