wanting to transfer to USC

Hi,

I’m currently a student at UT-Austin, and I really, really want to transfer to USC for these reasons:

I’m from Oregon, and thus, I really miss the west coast, and actually knowing some people that either go to USC, or are in the area (I.e. go to UCLA), and not being able to go back home regularly.

I’m currently a pre-med, who has decided to switch to chemical engineering. The problem is that at UT, engineers start taking classes in their desired engineering their freshman year, which sets me way back, and may not allow me to graduate on time (2012).

I hate UCLA more than Oklahoma, even though I’m a longhorns fan!

So my questions are basically how do I go about transferring to USC? What classes do I need to take, when is the earliest I can transfer etc.? Also, how difficult is it to transfer into USC? My high school record isn’t that great…I had a 3.8 or so UW GPA and a 30 ACT, and in college so far, I have a 3.3.

As of right now I’m taking calculus, intro chem (have As in both), intro bio (B), and intro econ (this is the killer, I have a C), and am only taking 13 credits. I have the option to drop economics, which would significantly boost my GPA, but at that point, I’d only be taking 10 credits, and we’re on semester system. So I guess what I’m asking is would you recommend dropping, or just taking the C in economics (I can still bump it up, but with the way things are going right now, I really doubt it)? What GPA do I need to have a good shot at transferring?

thanks

Hating UCLA really isn't a requirement to be at USC...most of my friends and I at USC have total respect for them academically. We just point and laugh at their football team:p

I suggest you look up Viterbi Engineering on the USC web site and click to Chemical Engineering. See if your classes match for transfer. I am not sure (maybe yes, maybe no) you would graduate in 4 years if you transfer because Viterbi has its own requirements. Certain AP classes with high scores may help. Look at the requirements. Call Viterbi Admissions and explain your situation and see what they have to say. Viterbi is very competitive to get into. Not to discourage you, but you need to ask a USC admissions representative about your situation. I don't know about the Viterbi transfer policy.

You'll need to raise that 3.3 to at least a 3.5+. This means either drop that econ class or get on the ball looking for tutoring.

Respect is earned only if UCLA does not publish rubish stuff like below, otherwise it will earn a nickname, University of Constantly Lying to Anyone.
