War veteran from another country?

I’ve been applying for scholarships (fun stuff), and there are some that descendants of war veterans are eligible for. I am the child of a veteran, but not one who fought in any of the American wars. Are non-American veterans counted as veterans for scholarships in America? Thanks!

most of the ones I know about are for U.S. Veteran offspring. Send the scholarship group an email and ask…

@thumper1 thanks! didn’t even cross my mind to shoot them an email :))

Most likely not. Most scholarships are for U.S. military veterans and their dependents if they don’t use their military benefits.

There is a large influx of US veterans now out of the military and are attending college to retrain for life outside of the military. Many US veterans are eligible for benefits through the yellow ribbon program through the GI bill. some are eligible for the posse veterans scholarship
