Hi, I have applied to UM, Twin Cities for Fall 2014 admission, but so far haven't got any notification yet. However, recently I received an email from UM suggesting that I apply to other schools within UM system (Duluth, Morris, Rochester). I'm wondering if this could indicate a sign that my application would probably be rejected, so I'd better try applying to other schools? Anybody has the same experience like me? Appreciate if you could share as well.

My daughter received the same email and was accepted.

I received the same information (through regular mail, not e-mail, though), but it already showed that I had been accepted through the tracker. I actually thought it was my acceptance letter before I opened it!

So i’m pretty sure that’s not a sign you’ll get rejected.

Hi Saperne and Descending, thanks for your reply. That’s very encouraging to me as I choose UMN as my dream school.

Don’t take that as a sign of rejection as it was probably an automated email to everyone in the system.

I have gotten emails before asking me to apply to schools I have already applied to and gotten confirmation for applying too!

They are all just automated emails not signs of rejections! You got nothing to worry about. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get in!
