All the previous posts say it is $400 ok, i was willing to pay it. So I checked out the website and now it is $600. Is it worth it? S is a junior and he will take the PSATs in October and SATs in November and March. What is the best time to do a prep class? Someone i know said to take the class after first taking the SAT so you had a starting point. Does that seem reasonable or should he take the class before the PSATs?
The price is $397

You should prep before you randomly take a real test. SAT scores are permanent record.
If you want a starting point, just take a timed test at home. Or go to any test prep company that offers free diagnostic tests.
@mmk2015 The link you provided shows the price is $600.
I just clicked on it. It says $397. If you’re swrong $600, that is so weird. The only way it might make sense is maybe there is a different pricing system by country.
it says 410 for me
That is weird. I am in the Northeast so maybe there is a different pricing structure based on location as you mentioned. I clicked on both SAT and the ACT and both are showing up as $600. You are not the only one showing $397 - @3scoutsmom is too on another thread about the same issue.
I’m in the Northheast too and it says $410
Out of curiosity I clicked the link – it is showing $397 for me and I am in the Northeast USA as well. :-??
In the Midwest … Link shows $400
I’m in PA and it says $600. It seems very shady to me.
These is no way I would pay $200 more for the exact same product. Shame on them. I have emailed to see what their response is.
Kaplan and Princeton Review are both $299
A major clothing retailer was busted doing this a few years back (Lands End? Victoria’s Secret? I can’t recall) and there was lots of indignation. Unfortunately, I think it’s a fairly common practice.
ICK! ICK! ICK! - S-L-E-A-Z-Y! I just spoke to David at PrepScholar and was told he could not give out pricing over the phone and it costs whatever it shows on your computer is your “promotional price” I’m generally a Prep Scholar fan but this is just WRONG!
Mine shows 400.
@3scoutsmom Thanks for following up. I originally was going to give them benefit of the doubt thinking that somehow their higher price hadn’t uploaded for everyone on their website. Now that you have confirmed that it is differential pricing depending on where one resides, I have lost all respect for the company.
@scholardad I agree. I’d encourage everyone to check their price and post it so @chengallen at Prep Scholars knows we are on to his business practices and hopefully will change it!
For your reference, chengallen was banned for spamming. He promoted his site on CC instead of paying for advertising.
Thanks @MaineLonghorn , that explains why he didn’t respond to my PM about this detestable practice! I did give “David” an earful about what I thought about their “promotional pricing” and asked him to pass it along while I had him on the phone.
Shady shady shady. I’d been pretty agnostic on Prepscholar, but this pushes me over the edge.
