Was this wrong?

So,I'm volunteering at the local library working the tables for the summer reading program. So basically,4 people sign up for 2 hour shifts, and could do multiple shifts. Being a senior,I needed hours so I was doing 6-8 hour stints with my friend. My brother sometimes joined for 4-6 hours. After 7 weeks of volunteer,I had 153 hours, friend had 200,brother had 70. So today, the librarian told us we can only do 2 hours a day now because of middle school volunteers whining about us doing too many hours. So we cross our names out and my brother and I go home 1 hour early.(keep in mind that this is first cone first serve so it was not wrong of me to do 150 hours)

That's not the bad part yet, when I come home,I get a text from my friend still at the library told me that the head librarian told him after I left that he could do as many hours as he want. They told him not to tell me about him volunteering all he wants. Was it wrong of the librarians to boot me out while my friend get his hours? Sorry of this doesn't make sense,i'm venting right now.

I think it was wrong. I believe that if it is first come first serve, you should be entitled to volunteer as much as you want. Unless you did something disrespectful or anything that would give the librarian a reason to dislike you, then I disagree with her decision, especially if your friend already has more hours. Therefore, if you are really devoted to doing more than two hours, I would suggest you talk to the librarian. Maybe she has a reason for giving your friend more hours. Hopefully everything works out!:)

Nope,I do all the work without complaining. Whenever there are big shows, I help out with ticketing and crowd control. But now, knowing that they don’t want me there, I don’t even feel like volunteer there knowing that they secretly talked to my friend.

Racist b**** that also happened to me at the hospital

^^Sorry:( Maybe you could volunteer somewhere else. There are plenty of volunteer oppportunities that you could do. It helps to do something that not everyone does. It stands out on your application and it makes you feel like your actually contributing. That’s what I have found anyway. Normally I try to stay away from the town activities for kids because although I am there and signed up for it, I usually just stand around because there are too many volunteers. Regardless though, I’m sure you will find something!:)

I would ask the librarian what that was about, especially the “don’t tell him.” part. That isn’t fair at all. Even if you don’t regain your hours back, you should confront this person. It could be a misunderstanding or it could be something more. Either way, I would speak with them about it.

because the fact that the librarians told my friend behind my back that he could volunteer all he wants while I can only do 2. And we do equal work.

^If it’s something you want to continue, you need to talk to her.
