Wash Post Article

<p>The Post published an article saying that Grinnell, among others, is no longer need blind in admissions: [url=<a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/08/AR2010010803584.html%5Dwashingtonpost.com%5B/url"&gt;http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/08/AR2010010803584.html]washingtonpost.com[/url&lt;/a&gt;]&lt;/p>

<p>Anyone know where they got this? Grinnell's website says that it is need blind for domestic students. Strange.</p>

<p>Bad news for ds. :(</p>

<p>I’m a Grinnell alum and was very surprised to read this. I checked with the Grinnell Admissions office and learned that the author was misinformed. </p>

<p>According to Grinnell Admissions:
"Grinnell remains a need-blind institution for domestic students, in spite of the current
economic conditions. Last year alone we increased our financial aid budget from
$30,000,000 to $34,000,000. Our need-blind policy extends to wait-listed and
transfer students as well. True, we are need-sensitive for international
students but we have a historical financial aid commitment to international
students and provide approximately $4,000,000 annually to ensure their access to
a Grinnell education."

<p>no need for you or DS to worry, youdon’tsay :)</p>

<p>Good to know. That’s what I thought. I understand the article was also wrong about Middlebury (and probably some others).</p>
