Washing machines

So my son announced today that he moves into the dorm in two weeks. Guess I need to finish up the shopping.

This may be silly, but my son will be living in Russell and I was wondering if the machines are high efficiency or not. I want to get him detergent, but realized I had no idea.

Good luck to everyone moving in.

Thanks.

My D will be in Russell, also, so I look forward to the answer!

Ive lived in a couple of different dorms, and the washers/dryers were all the same. They work really well, the dryers are even better than the one I have at home. You can put a good amount of clothes in the washer. I just used gain detergent, and would put it in a soda bottle for easy transport. The washers lock once they start and dont unlock until they stop, so just make sure everything is in there before you start the cycle. Dryers dont lock.

I found that the Purex 3-in-1 sheets are very convenient for college students. I do not believe that the washers are HE, BTW. I know my son used normal detergent until we gave him a package of the sheets.

Misterbill, did your son have any problems with the sheets? I used them recently to wash some dress shirts and they came out of the washer filled with spots. I googled it and found out that it’s a fairly common problem. I rewashed the shirts after using Stainstick and the spots were still there. More searching led me to find that GooGone takes out the spots and it did. Although this is a very convenient product, I would not recommend using it.

How much does it cost for washer/ dryer?

I think it was $1.00 for wash $1.25 for dry. They could have increased it. You can use quarters or flex.
