hey everyone! hope its all going good! i just wanted to ask if anyone has gotten an email about the scholarship finalist decisions yet?
yes I did get it. I donāt think it mentions āfinalistā. It only says that the decisions will be released on Feb 15.
woah good observation. I donāt know why theyād do this considering other unis are successfully conducting online interviews and even āweekendsā (i.e. NYUAD), but maybe they canceled the finalist weekend altogether?

If you read it, it says scholarship app. But Iām sure they mean whether you are a finalist or not. My daughter just got done with College of Charleston Honors. Was virtual for obvious reasons and took place over a week instead of a weekend but was still a positive experience.
I canāt imagine they will award Johnson just off an application and essay. Iām sure you will learn if you are a finalist or not and thatās what they mean.

I got it! Does anyone know how many people are chosen as a finalist and how many of those are offered the scholarship. I know that about 10% of the incoming class are Johnson Scholars, but does that mean only this amount were offered the scholarship? Or are more offered it and they choose to attend another school?

Congratulations! I believe about half of the finalists who attended the interviews/scholarship competition on campus last year ended up being offered the scholarship. I am not sure the exact number that were offered but maybe it was about double the amount they had targeted for scholarships.

The letter said over 200 finalists and 3500 applicants. I think they target 44 a year.
Typically schools donāt backfill offers.
My D is a finalist. Lots of happy dancing right now!

We did not get - but again was offered an interview for the Weinstein scholarship. My daughter has a 4.53 with 9 AP, 1 DE, and a 30 on the ACT with 32 Superscore.
I believe if you are a Johnson Finalist you will be offered admission. The website shows this - so congrats to all named a finalist.
At the point at which you are named a finalist, we are planning to offer you a place in the first-year class. However, your acceptance is not final until you receive your acceptance notification from Washington and Lee. In the meantime, your winter and spring grades, your decision whether or not to attend the competition and your conduct during the competition can affect the outcome of your admission application.
