Is there anyone who has been accepted into this college? What do you think about it and expect?

For all the old heads to the college, what is the school like? Do you like it? What do you like about it? What have you learned since being there?

I got in for the fall. Are you in already? I am pretty sure I'm going, I got a good scholarship. I haven't visited campus yet, but I've heard it is really pretty. What are you planning on majoring in?

I am an International student, but i got waitlisted for financial reasons.. I heard just 400 students are getting into washcoll this year out of an application pool of 3,300..is this true?

My D was accepted Early Action at Washington College and is seriously considering WC. She is still waiting to see what the RD round will bring in terms of acceptances and scholarships, but she can readily see herself attending the school. We have made a couple visits to Chestertown, most recently in late February so that my daughter could spend the day there and attend classes. She loves the Chesapeake region and the ambience of the historic waterfront in Chestertown, as well as the fact that Spring comes much earlier in Maryland than it does in Upstate NY. The campus is currently a construction site, with new residence halls, a temporary dining facility and performing arts center going up. However, she saw the campus before construction started and liked what she saw. By 2009 construction should be winding down and new landscaping will soon cover the scars.

The one thing she was a little concerned about was academic rigor. Her stats and hs curriculum are on the high side for Washington and she wanted to make sure that she would be challenged and that classes would be intellectually stimulating. The classes she attended, and the students she met, during the February visit put her mind at ease.

Adeoye, Washington College will admit around 400+ students in the fall, but they will accept far more than that. Based on recent reports WC admits between 55-60% of applicants and gets a yield of about 20% +/-.

ye sheng mei -- She is interested in pursuing biology and is interested in a career in medicine, veterinary medicine or academia. She is also interested in environmental studies. She was accepted EA at Ohio Wesleyan at the same time she was accepted at Washington. The other four schools she is waiting on are Kenyon, Lafayette, William & Mary and Wesleyan University.

Yes I got in for the fall. The campus is BEAUTIFUL. And I am going to be a biology/pre-med major. What are you planning on majoring in?

My S has been accepted and offered scholarship money. We haven't seen the campus yet. What do students do on weekends at this school? Do they stay on campus or is there a big exodus "home"? My S is looking for a school with a lot of stuff going on, and as this one seems pretty rural it's hard to tell what it might be like.

Can anyone who's visited tell us something?

Campus is very very nice, they have new dorms built and a new performing arts center and a new dining hall, so there is a bit of construction. It is still a gem of a small school. Sort of undiscovered but supposedly very good all around. Small town America atmosphere and the school tries hard to pull things together to do things on the weekend. Great location though so they let first year students have cars (good and bad) Close proximity to friends that might be in college in Annapolis, Philly, Balt and Washington DC. Very sports oriented so if your son is not into sports probably not a good fit. Good luck.

Parents and S had a great visit to Washington this weekend. Met very well-rounded student body, heard about great classes, especially creative writing, and many opportunities for students to get involved as classes are small/lot of personal attention. College had 50% spike in applications this year-- so it may not be be a hidden gem for much longer. Gorgeous campus and very spacious for only 1300 students. I wouldn't say the same about sports-- seemed like most everyone we spoke to is into the arts in some way-- lot of theater and writing types, too.
