Washington University in St. Louis 2023 ED2

@“Arhin Jeffery” Or hopefully a really fantastic birthday present!

Could it come out today?

Maybe, but I’m guessing Wednesday or Thursday. Good luck, everyone!

@dude2001, that would be great. I think we’re all tired of the waiting. But who knows. I’m watching their instagram and twitter feed for clues, btw.

@elena719 nothing wrong with Case-it’s a top school with one of the best medical schools in the country. Plus Cleveland is an underrated city. I would recommend it as an option (plus they are generous with merit aid).

Rochester is a good school, but the city is kind of boring compared to Cleveland. One of my former coworkers was born and raised in Rochester and wanted to leave the place ASAP.

@hamurtle yeah, I’d be happy to send him to either of those excellent schools. He has been accepted at both, but he hasn’t visited them. If Washu is a no, we’re going to have to go visit, and I’m already a little tired of visiting colleges.

I wonder how many apps they received for ED2. I think I read somewhere ED1 apps were flat, meaning about the same number as last year. Since this is their first year doing ED2, maybe they didn’t get a huge number. They aren’t publicizing the number, afaik, which also leads me to believe it’s not huge. Wishful thinking?

@elena719 given that they extended the ED2 deadline a week, I think they must not have gotten that many. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I think it would be bad form to release decisions on Valentine’s Day. Is that ever done? I’m going with the 13th as my guess.

I don’t remember announcements made on Wednesday. And if 2/14 is bad form, then Friday is as good a date as any.

And RD results will be announced around the 2nd week of March if form holds true as that’s spring break.

Did Wash U interview ED II applicants?

@hooonw good question. My son who applied ED2 did not get contacted for an interview. I assumed it was because he applied at the end of Dec and it was too late. But maybe they just didn’t offer them to everyone. My older son who is a WAshu sophomore applied regular decision and had an interview.

I interviewed over the summer when I was on campus for info session and tour, but decided to Apply ED2 in December

Alumnae interviews are assigned on a first come basis, handled through a different department than admissions and determined by alumnae geographic availability. No connection to acceptance positioning.

I’m a WU Alumni interviewer and we always do the interviews in mid-January. They are on a first come first serve basis. None of the kids this year were ED2. Hope that helps.

Yes, the only reason why I had two ED2 applicants is because they both switched from RD to ED2 after the interviews.

Interesting discussion on this page in the ED1 thread regarding day/time expectations:

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/2061842-washington-university-in-st-louis-2023-ed-p8.html

Apparently, if applicants haven’t received an email by ~3pm central time (~1pm pacific time) on a given day, it probably means that the notifications aren’t going out that day. So you can stop refreshing your email for today.

Tomorrow is another day! Good luck, all.

The son (Class of 2021) got an email notification to check his status at 3:05 Pacific Time (5:05 Central)-this was for ED. So just check around 5:30 Central Time starting Thursday. If there is no email, check the next day.

At this point there is no use stressing out, so try to relax as much as possible.

I got an email about 20-30 minutes after decisions were released (ED1 this year), and that was the only warning we got. The only reason I knew to check my portal was because there were rumors in the ED1 thread that the decisions were coming out. They came out a bit before 5:30 eastern time this year.

what do we think about today ahhh
