Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2021 RD Discussion Thread

@Winky1 makes sense. so by the first theory, they offer GTs to students with highers stats

And someone who accepts a GT offer will come in as a sophomore and will probably fill a spot from someone who isn’t returning who had been accepted as an incoming freshman. A certain percentage of students do not return to school for lots of different reasons. Seems to me to be a win-win for the school.

I think the school really benefits from GT offers whether the student takes them up on it or not. My advice to any students who gets one of these offers from any school (I don’t know if Wash U even offers this), is to really consider it. If it’s a top choice of yours, let the offer sink it and really consider it. My son came to a hasty decision not to consider it because it seemed silly to us at that time. While it may be disappointing, it is still an offer to be considered thoughtfully, I think. Depends on how badly you want to attend a particular school.

I hope I get in, I didn’t demonstrate much interest but my cousins go there. I didn’t note that on my application but now I wish I had reached out more!

I’m really interested in the university too. I live a few oceans and continents away, and sadly, there is no supplement to make up for the space between us.

I had the interview and applied to several scholarships and usp. Does that count as demonstrated interest?

I visited and am on the mailing list, and at one point was being recruited by their volleyball coaches, but I applied pretty late bc I had to convince myself I could make it. I tried to make up for it by writing all of my essays specifically for Wash U and applying for multiple scholarships and USP, but we’ll see if that was enough.

Beware the Ides of March!! It’s a prank. We are all rejected lol

So are we looking at decisions arriving in 5 hours?

@cashme probably more like 4 hours (4:30-5 central)

Oh great. Hate that I’m hyping myself up even when I’m nowhere near the average competitive applicant to WashU. Well, guess I love to disappoint myself.

Does anyone have a link to the admitted student profile mentioned in the email?

Just talked to my counselor, the email is real.

So excited! I don’t even care if I get in at this point, whatever the result is I just want to know it so I can move on with my life.

I agree 100% now time to make arrangements with my state school

I know I’m not gonna get in anyways I’m just not as competitive as some of you overall. Great scores and everything but still

If I don’t get in I’m just gonna blame it on my not visiting to feel better.

@ap012199 My thoughts exactly.

I literally took a 18 hrs flight from China, for a on-campus interview. But I’m extremely diffident about my sat score. Do you guys know what’s like the average sat score for WUSTL. (I know it’s to late to ask though, just anxious lol) thx a lot!!
