Washington University (WashU) in St. Louis Class of 2022 APPLICANTS

Hey guys! I submitted my application to WashU (regular decision) about a week ago, and I was hoping to get a discussion going. How has everyone’s application process been so far? Anyone applying for scholarships (I think I’m gonna do Moog)? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Hey, I applied ED and am also considering applying for some scholarships but haven’t decided which one to go for. Which school in WashU did you apply to?

Hello, my D has applied ED as well. She applied to the College of Arts and Sciences (Bio major on the Neuroscience track). She has been nominated for the Danforth Scholarship, so that will be her priority, but I know she plans on applying for the Moog as well. Best of luck and thanks for starting this thread @happysnappy .

Hello My D applied ED as well. For Arts and Science preferably PNP track.

Just a heads up for RD applicants-there are going to be interviews with alumni in December and January. I’m volunteering for one of the Bay Area interview events as a parent greeter (makes me feel like I just joined WalMart).

My son applied to Business school for RD on October 1. He got an email today for an interview on Dec 3.

Hey! Just applied RD to Arts & Sciences earlier this week and now I’m working on scholarship essays, which is certainly a time and a half

@panorarnic Me too! good luck!!!

Hey! ED applicant to College of Arts and Sciences, looking to major in Physics! I am currently applying for scholarships, but I would be happy with an acceptance as my grades aren’t fantastic… but I feel very strongly about my application, recs and essays, so we will see. It’s my dream college!

Hello, has anyone heard anything either way about admissions?

@Winky1 don’t think anyone has heard anything yet!! if anyone does, please post in this discussion…i’d love to hear any results!

I know it is early, @happysnappy. I only asked because in the ED thread, someone’s daughter heard in school yesterday that an athlete(s) heard that they had not been accepted. So I figured I ask if anyone heard anything from the fringe. Good Luck to all while you wait out this next week or so.

@fatcat15 I applied in October. I have a one hour interview on Saturday, 12/2 with an alumnus. Waiting to hear from my ED school before applying for any scholarships.

Did the alumnus tell you that it was going to be 1 hr. @grusminion? When my D interviewed he said they are normally about 30 minutes, but hers ran a bit longer than that. Just curious. Or is this some different kind of interview? Good luck on it, by the way and with your ED school.

Typically the interview is 25-30 minutes. At the interview session I’m helping staff this Saturday, there will be 25 students being interviewed with some other students on a waiting list until more alumni volunteers can be found to help out.

I’m there to talk to parents about WashU and to answer any questions. In my area there will be 2 interview sessions (12/2 and 1/6).

Without divulging the nature of the questions (parents have to go through an online training session even if they aren’t alumni), this is a get to know the student and their interests interview. Don’t worry/stress out over it if you are scheduled for an interview.

Hey everyone! Sorry to “hijack” this thread…(I posted this on the other WashU thread as well but decided I’d post it here too in case there’s a different audience)…I’m applying RD to WashU but got this email and I’m not sure if it’s a personalized email or if it’s one everyone got?

It’s about the Interdisciplinary Program in Humanities and the email seems like a template email but it also asks for me to respond kinda with my interests + opportunity to meet with the author of the email (an IPH prof?) and it says that a “colleague” told this prof that “I’ve made my deep interest in humanities clear on my application.”

I did submit my application (since the interview deadline is Dec 8th)…and I did talk to my regional admissions officer about my interdisciplinary interest (although not in the humanities…)…did anyone else get this email? I’m just so confused if I should respond or if it’s just plain marketing.

Thank you so much everyone

@LushLillies my son got the same letter last year for IPH (via snail mail). It’s something that he is thinking about as a potential minor.

My son met with Professor Loewenstein (director of the program) last year after he was accepted ED. The conversation went well if I recall correctly.

@Hamurtle thank you for the response! Do you recommend I respond back to the email then and possibly speak to the professor then? Did your son indicate that he was interested in IPH on his app? I was just confused why I received the letter since it seemed so personal. I have a strong writing background but never intended to major in humanities.

@LushLillies by all means reply to Professor Loewenstein. He is pretty proactive and my son was in email contact with him quite a bit before they met.

I guess my son ended up on the list since he is thinking about doing some combination of Biology and History. IPH combines some of the 2 disciplines.

So the letter we received for the Danforth scholarship said her application ED was not complete but the pathway showed that it was. It was confusing. Should I call the admissions office?
