***WashU Class of 2020 RD Applicant Thread***

Anyone else applying to WashU in the RD round? Thought we could discuss the process here

Love the fact that there is no supplement. Who else is going for some of their awesome merit scholarships?

I’m applying for the Ervin Scholarships! I’m extremely excited to do the application. How about you?

I wish there was a supplement so there would be more for them to judge admissions on. I’m applying for merit scholarships

@TheMosby Yeah, I’m excited too! Ervin seems like an awesome program and it’d be a dream to be accepted!! I’m also going to try to apply for Rodriguez. I’m not entirely sure of the differences between what the two types of scholars do once their on campus but it will be interesting to explore more!

@mockislife I totally understand where you’re coming from. I think WashU may have opted against supplements however because of their merit scholarships which have a few really in depth questions. I’m sure they’ll look at the scholarship answers when considering admission as well, so if we fill them out there will be more for them to judge.

LOL that only scholarship students are asked to write supplements. Tells a lot about Wash U right there!

Do we submit our scholarship applications after submitting the common app application? or at the same time?

@nerdking it’s after submitting the common app application.

@lostaccount they want all applicants to apply for scholarships…

Applying to RD too! Also to Danforth and maybe a few other merit scholarships.

Can you only apply to one school-specific scholarship? Say, either Langsdorf or McKelvey for engineering?

@giraffe42 Nope! You can apply to both Langsdorf and McKelvey. Once you submit your application, you’ll get access to the WUSTL pathway that allows you to fill out the application forms.

not applying but apparently my friend said she was waitlisted but like decisions arent even out yet… and I was like “Aren’t decisions coming out later” and she said that it was because she applied early lol… i’m doubting that she’s telling the truth tbh

@jumpingstar Yeah, there’s no way that’s true. They will come out by first week of December earliest.

Do Missouri residents have any advantage when it comes to admissions?

How competitive are WashU scholarships?

Hi all, I’m also applying RD!

i got an email from washu about applying and i noticed they said they had a few supplemental questions but I don’t see any except for the option to upload a resume? am I just not seeing them?

For scholarships, do we need to do any other supplemental essays? If so, where do we find the prompts? And when do we submit them?

Hi all! My name is Jarrett and I am applying to WashU RD after being deferred from Penn ED. I am from the Boston, MA area. I would be applying to the College of Arts and Sciences with an intended major of Philosophy on the Law, Policy, and Research track, with a possible double major in Archaeology.

I have a question. How competitive are scholarships? And do they expect all applicants to apply for scholarships? Thanks. Also, how important are interviews because I didn’t request one/didn’t apply by the interview deadline.

I can’t speak for the scholarships but as far as I know the interviews are requested but not required. But you might want to check and see if they are having an interview day coming up in the Boston area and you might still be able to get one.
