washu chances

I have a pretty solid art portfolio after being in three years of art, including AP, and am wondering if this could help my admission chances. I have a 3.4 uw gpa, 3.65 w, though I got to a very challenging public school outside of Chicago. My ACT is 31 w/o any studying/prepping. I only have two APs, with a 5 on psych, but a few other honors courses. I'm aware these stats are on the low side of even possibly being accepted, so am looking for anything that will help. I'm just wondering if the art will help..

Besides that, I just graduated high school and am taking a gap year to intern for a human rights org in D.C and then teach in Nicaragua. I have also been extremely involved in human rights orgs including Amnesty and Invisible Children, and I think these things could possibly help.

So, can anyone tell me if I have a shot?

Thanks,
-Emma

Your stats are below the line for WashU.
But, WashU is one of those schools that really, really value “interest”.
The absolute best way you can show interest is to apply ED, which I think is probably your only chance for WashU, and it’s a reach at that.

Also, make sure you visit and have an interview.
