WashU in St. Louis Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

My son did his on a ski lift and just talked about his love for the outdoors, similar to the sample videos!

my video was me reading the last chapter of a sad book and talking about how I felt lol I think as long as you show a new (or highlight a previously mentioned) personality then you’re good

My video was a time lapse of making a thank you card for a friend (didn’t even have enough time to show my face Lol). I added a voiceover stating the importance of showing gratitude, thanking others, etc. I haven’t seen other videos besides the ones made by counselors but I’m not worried since it shows me being me

How about making a tiktok?

I’m pretty sure that would work! 15 sec is prob too short but 60 sec would be fine. The max length is 90 sec.

Hi guys! I haven’t seen anything about the scholarship programs yet so I figured I’d ask. Does anyone know a predicted date for scholars programs notifications to go out? On the website it says mid-Feb but that feels kind of vague.

I called the school and they would not be any more specific about dates for the scholars programs notifications coming out - just said the same thing about notifications coming out in February.

I think WashU’s is meant to be more casual! so you’re good!

Is Washu rolling admission for RD? I saw that decisions would be released by April 1 but with some scholarship notification out in February I’m thinking that maybe they decide in waves up to April?

I just looked up 2024 RD & was able to answer my own question. If you receive a scholarship or are a finalist I imagine you will know your admission decision early. But last year RD found out March 12th & in 2019 I believe it was March 14th.

According to the 2024 thread, merit scholarship finalists are notified after President’s Day. Since it’s supposed to be mid-February, I would imagine that means Tuesday-Friday of next week.

Crossing fingers…

Are you supposed to apply for merit scholarship separately or are you considered through normal applications process?

They have both I believe. The essay with the common application is for academic scholarships I believe and then they have additional scholarships that were due January 4. That’s my understanding at least.

Yes you understanding is correct. You common application and supplemental essay is reviewed for all departmental scholarships. However, they have some full tuition (and half tuition) scholarships which require a separate application which was due Jan 4th.

So the person who said they were accepted and got a full ride - do they offer a full ride with regular merit scholarship, or is that one of the special ones that needs to be applied for?

They offer full tuition fellowships for the academic division scholarships. You can read more about them here: Academic Scholarships - Undergraduate Admissions | Washington University in St. Louis. You can also find more detailed information by going to each department’s website and searching up the scholarships. It seems that they also offer half tuition fellowships: College of Arts & Sciences Scholarships - Undergraduate Admissions | Washington University in St. Louis (these are the scholarships specifically for majors in the Arts & Sciences department).

Thank you. Right now just seems like I’ll be lucky to even get in. I hope to be admitted RD.

When will they release the RD decisions?

By April 1. Last year they released them on March 12 & in 2019 it was March 14 - from what I saw on the forums.
