WashU (Olin) V. Indiana (Kelley) V. Ohio State (Fisher)

Hello. I am a senior in high school and have been accepted to these three schools. I am interested in a career relating to finance (will likely major in finance, accounting, or both), but am not 100% certain of doing business (although it is very likely). If I do enjoy business, though, I’d like to work in fields like private equity, maybe investment banking (to help get me into a good MBA school or to another prestigious job), corporate finance, commercial real estate, or others. I am a direct admit to the business schools at all three of these schools. At OSU, I get in state tuition and am in the business scholars program. IU is about double the cost of OSU, and I am in the Honors College there. WashU is the most expensive of all three (and furthest from home).

I would really enjoy being close (but not too close) to home at OSU, and love the social atmosphere there (including football games, obviously), and love the city of Columbus. I also really like the campus.

I like IU and its campus (not as much as OSU, though), but don’t love Bloomington. I’d prefer an urban environment, but I’m sure I’d be fine there, too.

WashU has the best campus, food, and dorms out of all three, and St. Louis (and the area around WashU) is very nice. Again, it is a little far from home, but this doesn’t rule it out by any means.

Given the above information, which school should I go with?

OSU or WashU. Decision depends on how important cost and being close to home, and these are 2 very very different environments, small vs. large school, sports, school spirit different as well…

You say WashU is the most expensive. Does that means you would need to take out loans to attend, or are your parents willing to pay?

OSU business scholars is the easy answer due to cost & your personal preference.
