I was accepted to WUSTL for the class of 2015. I was also accepted to UNC, UVA (with the Echol program), and Emory.

As of now I am leaning toward Washu, but I am planning to visit all four schools within the next two weeks. Does anyone have any insights, experiences, or just educated opinions? I would appreciate any suggestion - just looking for some general feedback from people who know what they're talking about. I know each school has many pros and cons, I'm just interested in hearing other opinions. Thank you!

BTW, I'm currently undeclared about my major but my interests lie in social studies. Prob gonna be political science/psychology. I love sports, and want to be active in them in college and attend games. (I'm an avid runner - distance star in high school but also play basketball.) Greek life is decent at every school so socially I'm confident I'll be happy anywhere. Mainly looking forward to what people know about the academic comparisons/atmosphere comparisons. Thanks again!

^I was also a little hesitant about attending a huge public school. Also, the fact that a great majority of the students would be coming from a single state was a little offsetting.

Wash U has a truly excellent poli sci program - and the econ dept is really strong, too (I’m planning to major in it). You can combine the two, either in a double major and/or there’s an entirely separate major called Political Economy. Let me know if you have specific questions on the classes, professors, etc in either of these two depts.

A rah-rah athletic spirit vibe is where Wash U probably falls short — but, it’s probably similar to Emory’s athletic spirit vibe, and really every school probably falls short to Michigan and UNC in that respect. They are so apples/oranges. Wash U does have a lot of school spirit, it just isn’t entirely defined by the athletic teams. There is the Red Alert spirit group, and our teams are actually really good in Division 3 (national championship level for many teams), but Wash U clearly isn’t a Big 10 school.
