Hello, all. I am a rising college junior who got accepted to both Georgetown and Wash U St. Louis for transfer admission and am having difficulty deciding between the two schools. I am a psychology major looking to leave a small liberal arts college (approx 1700 students). I want to go to a bigger school with a more well-known and respected name - one that will help me both in the job market and possibly get into a top law or arts and sciences grad school. I visited both campuses recently and it seems to me that, while both schools are very pretty, WUSTL has arguably one of the nicest campuses in the country and is much more impressive than Georgetown's. Georgetown, on the other hand, boasts a great town right outside the campus, and then there's obviously D.C. There seems to be a great deal to do in St. Louis, though. My question to all is what school will give me a better arts and sciences experiences/more respected psych degree? I am fairly torn between the two, and while I realize that I probably can't go wrong with either option, I am trying to figure out which choice will be BEST for me. Any/all comments about either school would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

wow im jealous, i got into washu, but gtown is my number one.im not the most informed person regarding the schools so take my advice with a grain of salt. i do know that washu has amazing research opportunities which is very important if you are a psych major. washu as well as gtown places people in top law schools… i would also pay attention as to what kind of atmosphere you want to be in and with what kind of people because usually the happier you are at a college the more you are going to do with your academics. good luck with the decision!

Athletics12,

What is your major? Why do you favor Georgetown over WashU?

Go with your gut, i.e., whichever place makes you happier to be there.
THey are both great.
I don’t think that there’s much of a difference in respectability in terms of grad school placement. Wash U certainly has a top level psych dept, and also offers the fairly unique (and well respected) PNP major ([PNP at Washington University in St. Louis](<a href=“Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology | Washington University in St. Louis”>Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology | Washington University in St. Louis)).
Law school will depend on how well you do at whichever school you attend and, perhaps more importantly, the LSATs.
