congratulations to those accepted! you will have the best 4 years of your life... right now everyone is going crazy because of finals... (also, to respond to a previous thread, there is NO grade inflation here. ** ESPECIALLY no easy A's in the premed courses... A's are hard to get, but with hard work, it is possible)

Feeling a lot diassappointed............................

haha it looks like WashU has not given up their defferal game at all.

Boo21, your post makes no sense

WashU isn't notorious for having a "deferral" game, they are infamous for an alleged "waitlist" game. Deferred applicants don't go on the waitlist, they are put in the pile with RD applicants to be reviewed again.

If you're trying to imply that" WUSTL is still up to those crooked admissions practices" because they deferred what you deem, "highly qualified" candidates, then that also makes no sense. If they were trying to play some type of admissions game to boost numbers or something, why would they defer outstanding applicants that apply ED, and would be bound to go to WU? I think the very fact that WUSTL defers what you consider to be "highly qualified" applicants goes to show that WUSTL has different qualifications for admissions, namely they look past SAT scores! I've been saying it all along, WUSTL is trying to build a coherent community that reflects as many walks of life as possible. They are not about building some eclectic class of people who all got 2400, or did the same ec's.

I do apologize to anyone who has been deferred, this post is in no way meant to offend you. I am just ****ed at people like Boo21 who continue to speak bad about WU's admissions practices, when they know nothing about them. They are not only non-fact based assumptions, but illogical assumptions. I think all of you are excellent applicants! When one is rejected or deferred, he shouldn't always suspect it was something malicous. Top 25 schools, generally, are looking to build communities. Admissions is subjective and you may be deemed to fit in perfect at one place, but not so at another. I hope you all continue your interest in WU; however, know that you are a very competitive applicant at all the great schools in the nation!

any sense of how many deferred ED applicants are ultimately accepted RD? And any benefit to trying to find out what specifically fell short in a deferred ED application?

If you're deferred from ED, do something to improve your chances in RD. Send in some new recs, interview if you haven't, send in an improved activities resume, do things to show them that you REALLY want to go to Wash U. And as for their "waitlisting game" to "manipulate their US News ranking", that theory has been crushed last year, when they oversubscribed the freshmen class by 150 people and couldn't even accept 1 person off of the waitlist.

has anyone received any financial aid info yet?

nope. i was expecting it today.

is scholarship info included in the regular fin. aid notification? or is that separate?

mrliver that is REALLY weird. I got a 2220 on the SAT, a 34 on the ACT, and have a 3.9 GPA.

woah....that is pretty freaky...are you sure we're not related somehow too?

lol i guess it's not that strange for that to occur...let's just not tell each other the subscores because if those are all the same i'm going to be scared.

hoollyy cow Jeffwun, I didn't mean to offend you! take it easy man. You are absolutely correct about the 'waitlist' thing. I meant waitlist, not defferal. Out of curiously, do you know many people WashU accepts from the waitlist? from previous years? If it is a large number, then yet again, I apologize. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of WashU (this was actually my top choice before), I just find it amusing that WashU has a tendency to have an extremely large waitlist. That is all. I would definately get an attitude check though. That post was just a little too obnoxious.

I think Jeffwun has a point. But I don't think you should take it personally. It wasn't totally directed at you. If you've been reading this thread for awhile there was (sort of recently) a major argument/discussion about what you (innocently or not) touched upon. So that's why the detailed response. I think.
Then about the waitlist...um....Jeffwun's right. This is ED. There are no people put on the waitlist....they're either accepted, denied or deferred. The waitlist is what comes about after RD....
Also, "do you know how many people WashU accepts from the waitlist?".....last year it was no one. And then I don't know where you're going with the WashU has a huge waitlist thing. I actually don't know about that, but seeing as how no one last year got in off of it, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I hope this helps somewhat. I could be totally misunderstanding what you said though. So I'm sorry if you're reading this and saying "but that's not what I said at all!"....Good luck

my stats are found from this CC site actually. If you go and look at the 2010 decisions you see that if you weren't accepted you were waitlisted. (I don't read this thread at all except that once when I was glancing at it, so I'm not sure what issue your talking about) I realize my perception should not be based on this, but it did formulate in my mind that there were very few straight out rejections. And like you said, because "no one" got accepted from the waitlist year, that further indicated in my mind that they play this as I called it, "game" of waitlists ( I said defferal before). anways, I apologize for stating my opinion.
